I tried to get my new ID but was told there is a moratorium on getting them unless your card has to be replaced due to damage or loss. I have also heard from several sources that the ID change at 65 is just to force you to change to medicare and does not impact on TRicare as it automatically switches over.

BTW, the moratorium where I am is due to the base supporting border operations and can't handle the increased work load.

I don't know anything about your local moratorium. I guess it all works for you if the proper codes are put in deers. nobody is forced to take medicare. Part A is automatic but you have to sign up for part B to be eligible for TFL at age 65 when regular tricare ends. TFL and tricare are 2 different systems with different companies running them.

RE: Going on Medicare...
I logged into DEERS and it shows the correct info -- ie - being on Part B. I knew that was the case I had gotten EOBs from both Medicare and T4L (WPS). So everything appears to be good.
