RE: HDM Z1 Battery Replacement

One question (and perhaps I missed this): is it too much of a risk to remove the entire battery with its tabs and replace it with another instead of cutting with the Dremel and soldering on wires?
I found the Panasonic BR-1225 with the tabs already soldered on (product is listed as BR-1225/HCN)
I wondered if un-soldering (is that a real word?) and soldering in a complete battery with tabs is possible. Thanks in advance!
It is indeed possible to unsolder components... either using a commercial "solder sucker" syringe that vacuums out the solder after you melt it, or using "solder wick" that you heat up and which then wicks out the molten solder. You'll need a steady hand and a needle-tip soldering iron, and you might want to try some clipping small aligator clips between the solder you want to remove and nearby components - to prevent the heat from diffusing into other components. I've done this on numerous electronic repairs, but I haven't yet tried it with my "FAULTy" Z1... I'll will be trying it, though, when my replacement battery arrives. I've also read a recommendation somewhere that you should use lead-less solder to prevent gaseous lead vapors inside the case, though I have serious doubts about whether lead vapor offgassing in the unit would be any problem (with normal CPAP operating tempreatures) if you use conventional re-soldering.

RE: HDM Z1 Battery Replacement
Thank you for posting the information for replacing the HDM Z1 battery. I also found a replacement battery that matches the battery in the CPAP. It was a whole $1.68. I ordered two thinking if I had a spare, I would never need it. Shipping was $6.99 to my location, and it should be here tomorrow morning. As it is a lithium battery it needs ground shipping.
.digikey BR-1225%2FHCN/31942 I have used Digikey before and have been happy with their products and service.
OOPS - I'm too new to be able to post a link. So... search the google for a company called DigiKey. When you visit their site search for 'BR-1225/HCN' The item should look like this: Yes, I borrowed their photo. Sorry...

RE: HDM Z1 Battery Replacement
"I replaced the battery of the device, but the CPAP mode is there while the APAP mode has disappeared and is not visible. How can I fix this?"
"I'm connecting to the app via Bluetooth, and the APAP mode is not showing there either. This feature was available before the battery replacement."
RE: HDM Z1 Battery Replacement
TLDR - No joy after replacing the battery.
I finally replaced the battery in the Z1 Auto CPAP. Prior to re-assembly I checked the voltage of the battery and it looked good. The photos here helped me put the machine back together (THANK YOU!!) as it had been a while since I disassembled the unit. Everything looked good and I let it charge overnight. I turned it on today and while I was trying to determine how to set the date and time a FAULT 33 appeared. I spent a good part of the day looking for the date and time info and firmware. I realized the firmware may not be up to date and maybe updating the firmware may help. I updated the firmware and had it running for a while plugged into my computer and the power pack. Eventually the FAULT 33 appeared. The Z1 Auto was never used after we purchased it. It was meant to be a backup CPAP should we get stuck without power while traveling. I would charge the battery before we took a trip and put it back on the shelf when we returned home.

RE: HDM Z1 Battery Replacement
Hello Ephraim,
Thank you for the detailed HDM Z1CPAP battery replacement thread. I followed your directions and all went well. I plugged in the machine and it began operating properly, giving all the familiar display indications. After about 10-15 seconds, it flashed the FAULT 33 code and turned itself off. I tested the new battery with my volt meter after installing it and it indicated the proper voltage, so I did not damage it during installation. Is there a way to reset the machine to eliminate the error code?
Thank you for any advice you can provide.

I encountered the same issue. From HDM Data Viewer, my firmware version, V2.1.05 seems to be the latest. But the date and time on the Z1 is now reset to 01-01-00. Unfortunately, the Z1 Firmware Upgrade software which can also update the date and time is no longer available at
http://hdminternational.com.turbo.i8t.co...bdownloads. Appreciate if you could share it with me if you have a copy of the software. Thank you.
