RE: Body Weight and Sleep Apnea - POLL
No, no, red meat is fine, one of the better things for you, within limits. None of the rest of the stuff, though, although I would allow beets every now and again. What is life without Borscht?

RE: Body Weight and Sleep Apnea - POLL
Doc Wils,
I've never had Borscht. I think I can live without it though. Smile
I've never given much thought to how much sugar I consume, and how much of our food here in the U.S. is loaded with it. The breads and pasta will be a real test for me.
Well it has taken me 6 months to get used to CPAP, now it's time to take control of my eating.
Thanks for your posts and the knowledge you impart.

You are most welcome, OR. Borscht is Russian beet soup. Yep, a lot of stuff is full of sugars and salts you just don't need. So, yeah, it is a good idea to cut down. Your heart, your brain and all your organs will thank you.

Hmmm. Add to that your screen name, and we have four things that happen a lot together, four things that are probably even more coincidental than that you also have sleep apnea Cool

But that's certainly OK; some of my best friends fit that description.

Doc,

I have a question concerning your healthy eating formula. Why are beef and chicken your meats of choice?

Best Regards,

Well, I have never liked pork for one thing, and it is pretty fatty besides, but also because on the whole they have, next to turkey, the least calories per gramme to produce the maximal nutritional impact.

I don't buy turkey here because there is almost no native production, mostly imports from Germany, and let us just say that by Swiss standards, how they raise them is unacceptable. On the other hand, there is a thriving chicken production here, as is a good beef production (think global, buy local). There is nothing per se to prevent you from eating pork as well, but for maximum impact, it is a bit less effective, but only a bit.
