Is the AS11 able to measure the air humidity and adjust moisture added to get the air through the hose equal to 85% ambient humidity?

Using the Auto setting:  The tube temperature is set to 80 Degrees Fahrenheit.
                                   The humidity level is set to 85% relative humidity.

I use the Manual setting.  The tube temperature setting is independent of the humidifier setting.

Jeff brought up a good point in using a hygrometer to measure the humidity in your room.  I also use one (approx. $14.00 Amazon) to measure the humidity level.  

I only have to adjust the settings on my Pap machine a couple times a year.  Not a big deal for comfort and no rainout issues.

As OpalRose said, 85% Relative Humidity (RH).

IIRC the AS10 and AS11 models have sensors inside the machine that measure ambient room temp and ambient room RH. In Auto Climate Control mode it uses these to determine the hose temp and humidifier temp to maintain the desired output. At the mask end of the ClimateLine hose is a sensor (little plastic tip that sticks up into the airflow). I forget if that sensor measures humidity or temp (or both). It should also adjust the temp(s) to help prevent rainout.

So, if I understand correctly...
Relative humidity and ambient humidity are the same thing?
The percentage ratio between the amount of water vapor present in the air and the amount of water vapor required to saturate the air.
100% = dew point. 


As it relates to cpap rainout...
Does rainout only happen at 100% relative humidity?

If Auto humidity mode on my AS11 with a ClimateLine hose is to maintain 85% relative humidity it shouldn't be leading to rainout, right?

So either my hose or my machine is malfunctioning. 
I'll try a new hose.

I have been adjusting my hose to see what works best for me so I don't have a raw throat from the air being pushed into my form the cpap machine. If I run my humidity on 6 I get rain-out so that wont work, but last night with my humidity on 5 and the hose heated to 82 degrees seemed to work good, my throat was not raw this morning.

I am one of those that doesn't use a heated hose. When I had one, it was turned off. I found the airflow across the tank provided my with enough humidity to be comfortable. I also use a longer hose. I do have a hose cover that covers most of it, not for rainout, but to keep littly kitty teeth and claws out of the hose.
