Help with Centrals

Help with Centrals
Hi,
I just created an account here and I want to ask some advice.
My husband was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea last August after experiencing debilitating fatigue since March. He tried a CPAP mask for about 1 month, than switched to a BIPAP mask, he feels a little bit better, but not much improvement. I just installed OSCAR a few days ago and I can observe that most of his apneas are central and they happen after he goes to the bathroom and comes back to sleep. I attached a few pictures. Anybody experiences something like this?
The pressure right now is 8-9. We have another card with the pressure 8-10 but we decided last night to switch over back to 8-9 because we did not see much improvement.

Any other things that helped you with central apneas besides the CPAP machine?

Thank you,
Cristina

RE: Help with Centrals
Welcome to Apnea Board,

A few things I'm seeing with this that may help, first is leaks. There's a mouth leak pattern at times signified by a wide flat elevated area. Spikey leaks will be the mask itself. I see some of both.

Next thing against Central Apnea is Ramp. I have the predominant Central Apnea myself, and Ramp not only blocks therapy, it tended to induce CA.

The VAuto machine you're using has a setting called Trigger. I would set that to High or Very High to make the inhale trigger more sensitive. This can avoid some Centrals, but it cannot treat them.

Do you have the detailed diagnostic sleep study report? If not, request this from the doctor. They must give you a copy when you request it, HIPAA law gives you the right.

Once you have this report, post the doctor recommendation notes and the table with events count and type. And post redacted of your personal info. I'm wanting to discover what that test says about the Centrals, seeing if they showed in that test, then how many.
Mask Primer

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.
