Help with initial settings for cpap machine
My wife tested positive for Covid, and had to reschedule her meeting with the doctor who was going to set up the machine for her.
Is it possible for anyone on this board to give a good starting point for her settings on the Airsense 10 autoset? Her sleep study chart is attached.

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
Start with this:
Mode: Autoset Minimum pressure: 7.0 Maximum Pressure 12.0 EPR: On Full-Time EPR Setting: 2 Rationale. Good generic starting pressures for self titration on auto CPAP. Consideration of high flow limitation and snore, predominately supine apnea. We will look at results after one night and optimize or refine. Tendency for positional apnea should be noted as indicated by clusters of events. Please read this: https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph...onal_Apnea Please provide a good OSCAR chart and qualitative feedback from your wife regarding comfort. OSCAR is free. install on PC, laptop or Mac. Instructions for Organizing Oscar Charts and Attaching files are included in my signature below.

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
Thank you again. Thank you for the link to the article about positional sleep apnea. I have OSCAR installed now, so tomorrow I should be able to post a chart of her first night with the CPAP.

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
Friendly reminder, make certain you have an SD card inserted in the slot under the silicone door on the left side of the AutoSet before sleeping to store data for OSCAR.
SD card standard sized with 2-32 GB capacity.

yes, it has the original SD card. It has been cleaned of all old data, so it should be good to go.

[attachment=55910] [attachment=55909] Last night went alright, but I think it isn't the best data due to just getting used to having something on her face. She did manage to get some sleep, and there are a few hours that may be helpful. Here's what we got from OSCAR. I'm guessing that tonight we will have a little better data. Also, the time wasn't set correctly on the machine, and it was off by an hour and a half. So, that will be correct tomorrow as well.

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
First let me ask you to read the Organize your Oscar Charts wiki in my signature. A single screenshot could be so much better.
She only used the machine 4-hours, which is a pretty fair start and AHI of only 0.5 which is excellent. Get the time up to 7 hours and that would be excellent. Obstructive apnea was well controlled. I still see some flow limit so I'm going to have you increase EPR to 3 and reduce maximum pressure to 10.0. Hopefully these changes will improve tolerance. Mode: Autoset For Her or Soft Minimum pressure: 7.0 Maximum pressure 10.0 EPR full-time at setting 3

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
Thank you. I have adjusted the charts in OSCAR now, and the next one will be right.
I changed the settings on the machine. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again, Jerry

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
I had a terrible migraine yesterday, and was not able to use a computer. Here is new data from last night's sleep. She went to sleep with a neck brace on to hold her neck in alignment, and that seems to help her with keeping her airway open. She put the machine on after waking up around 4am. So the data is for the second phase of her sleep.
She said that the new settings felt much more comfortable and natural.

RE: Help with initial settings for cpap machine
It looks to be what we want out of therapy, quiet, non-disruptive and effective pressure that is comfortable. Next step is to get therapy time up. I hope she feels encouraged to use the therapy longer since we have found a comfortable range. Not bad for a first session.
