Hi - unable to get a restful sleep on CPAP and at my wit's end.

Do you need the EPR for comfort?  Have you tried without EPR?

Your insp. time is far too long. You likely need more pressure. A zoom on the flow pattern would reveal more.
Breathe through your nose
Reduce sugar and processed food
Soft collar and seal your mouth

Right, thanks Dave. Going to see if we can optimize CPAP, and depending on results/comfort, will reach out about the bilevel.

Chad - thanks. Early on, I was told that EPR was good for flow limitation/RERA/Hypopnea, which are the things that constitute my events. I haven’t had a full night without EPR, but have tried without EPR. Honestly forget whether I felt I could tolerate it or not - will try it again before I go to bed. It looks like you're right about the pressure because I tried a fixed 16 pressure last week and inspiration time was largely around two seconds.

That being said, the other day, when pressure was at 16, AHI was higher and individual breaths looked poor. I've attached those here. Thanks for taking a look.

I know EPR is often recommended here. There are different experts with opposite opinions on it.  Your airway can collapse if exhale pressure is too low.

It looks like at 16 you are still have trouble on inhalation.  The flow is flat and inhalation is still long. Ideal is around 1.5 second inhale and 3 exhale.
How did 16 feel to you?
Breathe through your nose
Reduce sugar and processed food
Soft collar and seal your mouth

lol Chad - learning something new everyday.

When I was going to sleep, 16 felt fine. I still woke up a lot, but could be due to leak, just having pillows on themselves, etc. could also be to the pressure being too low. Hard to tell.

One thing I’ve thought of - I have a deviated septum. Maybe pillows aren’t right for me and what would be sufficient pressures are not actually sufficient? I do have a FFM. Maybe worth I try, but not sure.

For me I prefer the pillows because they stent my nose. Maybe you should try your ffm or a cushion.

I would increase your max pressure in small increments and see if there's any improvement.

Gotcha. That is true and haven’t thought about pillows that way. With whatever mask I decide on, I’ll start up at 16.5 and report back.

Much appreciated.

Hi - does my ResMed SD card have to be in the machine to capture all the data or can I capture the data retroactively? I forgot my SD card in my computer last night but wanted to share some Oscar data with the settings decided on by some generous members in this thread.

I'm asking as I put my SD card into my machine and then back into the computer. It has some statistics, but no graphs. Just wondering if that's the norm or if something else is going on. Thanks.

Yes, the card has to be in the CPAP to record detailed data. The CPAP will internally store summery data only. Also as a "heads-up", the AS11 has a problem not realizing that the SD card was removed and reinserted. To address this you can either power cycle your AS11 when reinserting the card or remove the card before noon and then reinsert it after the noon hour. Don't you just love modern electronics?
