Newbie AHI question

Newbie AHI question
I've been using a CPAP and now a BIPAP for about a year with different masks trying to lower my AHI to no avail. My Dr. And equipment provider seem resigned to me having a high AHI but I have afib and it spooks me.

Here is some screenshots from Sleephead: feedback is appreciated.

You need to know what your ahi is, what type of events your having , you pressue before we can help you much.
That your doc is fine with your ahi being high isnt surpriseing.
I had afib also. Once on cpap, and tweaking my machine to a ahi of 1 or lower consistency it stopped.
We need more details to help.

RE: Newbie AHI question

My average AHI is over 15. I'm not getting good support from my Dr. or equipment provider. We have moved from Cpap to Bipap and changed masks but my AHI still stays high on average. I have Afib and am hopeful that if we can lower my AHI the Afib will go decrease. I just installed Sleepyhead and this is my chart - any advice or feedback is appreciated!

RE: Newbie AHI question
Ghost,

If you look at the screen shot, the AI is quite low on both centrals and obstructives. It is the hypopneas that are high.

Hadleyro

It would be helpful if you would put the precise model of VPAP in your profile. Is it an S8, S9, or Aircurve 10? Is your EPAP really set for 5 cm H2O? That is low. Is it an auto machine? If it were me, I would want to kick my pressure up a little bit. You might want to check with your doc on that.

Best Regards,

PaytonA

I was wrong about the model. It is a Respironics System One - Auto BiPap.

RE: Newbie AHI question
Hadleyro: What is the Pressure Support (PS) level on your BiPAP?

I am assuming you are using fixed EPAP of 5cm by looking at your statistics and probably a fixed IPAP as well.

Since you have a little bit of residual Obstructive Index, I would bump your EPAP up by 0.5cm to 5.5cm.

Also, if your PS level is modest, I would bump it by 1cm.

Make these 2 changes on your BiPAP and evaluate after 7 days.
PRS1 Auto & Dreamstation Auto w/ P10 and straight pressure of 8cm
