How to transfer CPAP machine between Provinces
Hi

I am planning to move to Nova Scotia from Ontario next year, I will not have PG, long wait list, once I move to NS. I am a CPAP user for several decades.

Would anyone know how do I transfer my CPAP prescription from Ontario to Nova Scotia or who do I contact?

Thanks you in advance.

What is a PG?

Do you mean a general physician or a sleep doctor?

Why are you trying to transfer your prescription?

Do you not have a machine anymore,  trying to buy a new machine or worried your current machine won't last until you see the PG?

I don't understand what importance there is in transferring the prescription.

I don't know what Nova Scotia CPAP prices are like,  but I believe Ontario has lower prices than several other provinces.   Quebec for sure.  Quebec is approaching twice the Ontario price.   In Ontario you are also have the ADP benefit  that locks in the price (IIRC less than $600) and covers 75% of the cost.  For less than $150 you get a brand new machine.   To my knowledge NS does not have a comparable program.

If you haven't had an ADP provided machine in five years,  you can see your Ontario sleep doctor to get them to get a new one.  You state you're moving in a year.  Lots of time to arrange it.  Then when you move to NS you have 5 plus years to line up a new sleep doctor.

If, for whatever reason you want to purchase independently,  I doubt providers will care what province your prescription is from or how old it is.

Why are you trying to transfer your prescription? I am selling my house in Ontario and buying one in Nova Scotia nest year.

I have a machine and wish to continue to use one once I am in Nova Scotia. CPAP's since these are provincial due to the subsidize, therefore i will need to get a new one in N.S.

I hope this clarifies things.

The CPAP machines subsidised by the ADP program become the property of the the user. The province does not retain any interest in the machine.

Off you go to Nova Scotia and be well, continuing to use your CPAP machine.
