Introduced my sleep clinic to OSCAR

RE: Introduced my sleep clinic to OSCAR
It "bugs" me that what you say is true.
I will ask why, are dentists and ENT treating patients with Sleep Apnea?
I  can see Sleep Docs referring patients to ENT if surgery is a possibility and to dentists for fitting oral devices..So is the almighty Dollar involved?...Yes......What can we do in the US?..........very little.
What about "true" Sleep Docs"?....They concentrate on AHI?....Yes!!!....Many know better?...YES!.

I been seeing a Board Certified Sleep Specialist for 10 years....Good guy?...yes...Knows about OSCAR? YES,he likes that is colorful and gives a lot more information than EncorePro.
He likes that I have 100% compliance and my AHI is <5......What is happening is that I am a good patient that does what he says and not someone that constantly needs to be tritated because of high AHI.

So I asked him during my last visit why if I my AHI was great was I suffering from EDS?....Gave me Modafinil which is working about 80-90%.....BUT I had to point out AHI is not everything?
Gave my DME new prescription for new ResMed AirSense because I asked!...Does he understand the difference that patients experience between DreamStation and AirSense devices?....No!...It's not in the medical literature.

So,how do we improve this problem that needs fixing?   Dont-know

I have no idea. The UK seems to be well behind in most things medical. We seem to be afraid to stand up to the medical profession here but hopefully we can empower the younger generation to take control (I'm 55 and am determined) Thinking-about

The main forum here is on FB and is rubbish. They won't let me promote OSCAR and there only seems to be 1 other person on there who uses it. I keep sneaking it in in responses to other peoples posts but think I will be blocked eventually  Dielaughing

I quit FB like 3 years ago.  The entire thing is rubbish.

Just speaking on Sleep Apnea its a new thing.  Only since 1969ish has it been a thing.  So still relatively new.  What I mean is if you stop 25 people and ask them have you heard of a Heart Attack or Diabetes the all will be like Yeah Mate...  If you ask them do you know what Sleep Apnea or OSA is what would they say..?   Also look up what Sleep doctors make vs Surgeons vs Radiologist. You will see why no one does it.  It also why they dont help you...

I have often thought of getting a tee shirt the says "Got Snoring" on the back is "Ask me to help".  I even wanted to tour around and give talks at associations.
Thank you,
Brent aka Factor

Just a Regular guy.
My untreated AHI was 87.  You can do it hang in there.

@Boxermum.

My experience is subtly different.

I visited my Sleep Doc (Respiratory Physician) this week. I'd had to see the Sleep Tech before that to upload my data for him to review. He said he never received data from the Sleep Tech (her bad)

I mentioned, politely, that I have no problem importing both my Vauto data and AutoSet For Her data into the same ResScan profile, there must be a problem on her side....

His response was that he doesn't use ResScan. (he doesn't like poor software and has spoken to ResMed about this).

I tentatively replied that there is another product out there he might like to try.....

He looked surprised and turned his Mac screen to me and what did I see, my Summary Data up till April....in full colour....

displayed in.... wait for it...... yes you guessed it.....in.....

Congrats and thanks for getting docs involved.

And for some reason, if I ventured to the UK to get treatment, I'd get Benny Hill or Dr. Who.
