Looking for opinions
#11
RE: Looking for opinions
I have been trying various strategies to get the leaks and flow limits under control with little success.  I do know that some of the leaks are mouth breathing and others seem to be caused when I move my head against the pillow and shift the nasal cushions.  I am considering trying a full face mask.  I won't mouth tape except as a last resort.

I think that the leaks are probably the lesser of the two issues, as nothing seems to put a dent in the flow limits, which kind of make a mockery of the low AHI numbers I consistently get (average <2.0).  Should I crank up the pressure?  I haven't (yet) experienced any issues caused by too much pressure.

Yes, I suggest that you raise your pressure range to 11-18. I think you will be more comfortable and sleep better.

Also, according to something Sleeprider told me some time ago, your leaks are not high enough to be causing you problems.  I wouldn't worry about them at all. Smile

RE: Looking for opinions
It seems that I am making progress.  The increased pressures have reduced both the AHI and the flow limitations.  I am still getting a lot of leakage.  I have ordered a new F30i mask which should arrive today.  That should resolve mouth leakage issues.

I still wake up three or four times per night.  I am considering bumping up the pressures another notch.  Comments?

RE: Looking for opinions
Update - I tried increased pressures, EPR of 3, Autoset for Her and for Him,  a chinstrap, a full face mask, nasal cushions, nasal pillows, a cervical collar, a CPAP pillow and mouth taping.  Nothing seems to greatly affect either the leaks or the flow limits.  Someone mentioned that I might be a candidate for a Bilevel machine.   I note that ResMed makes a number of Bilevel machines and I haven't noodled out the differences yet.   There is a used AirCurve 10 VAUTO for sale locally at a good price.  Would that be worth trying?

RE: Looking for opinions
ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto is the likely bilevel others were meaning. If you can grab it, go for it.

The current one, does standard response work better for you?

RE: Looking for opinions
You mentioned a For Her mode. Turning that off should equal standard response, as best as I understand it.

Understood. I have tried both settings on numerous occasions with no real improvement.
