Mask Farting noise
I have been using my Airsense 10 Auto for a couple of years and for the last month+ I have been having an awlful time with my mask making farting noises / Vibrating against my cheek when I inhale. this usually doesnt start until roughly 30 minutes+ after starting the machine ( when I'm asleep) I have replaced the vitera mask with a new one and tried using my old Simplex headgear also with no changes. I tried using a cover on the Vitera which does stop that problem but instead gives me a constant leak at the top blowing into both of my eyes. it feels to me as if the pressure is higher than it use to be but could be my imagination. I tried dropping the pressure down from max 18 to 14 without any improvement. I have ramp off and tried all ERP settings ( ERP was at 2 previously). I also noticed the autoshut off only shuts off around 50% of the time and if I dont turn it off manually it wil run for hours. I dont know if that is related in anyway.

RE: Mask Farting noise
It sounds like a mask fit problem.
Try a different mask. As you fall asleep your muscles relax and that subtly changes the shape, contours of your face. Getting the right mask is the hardest part of CPAP therapy.

Our facial structure is constantly changing, you may no longer fall with your current mask's design envelope. You may need a different size mask. Also, have any of the following occurred that will affect its seal, weight change, dental work or oral changes?

RE: Mask Farting noise
With the Vitera, the top straps are supposed to be loose (pretty loose) for the best fit. If it is too tight, this could be the cause. Can try loosening the tops straps. Stay with the original Vitera straps also. Worth a shot. The bottom straps need to be relatively tight though. Vitera is one (if not the best) sealing FFM I have ever tried. But still may need a new mask.

RE: Mask Farting noise
Mask straps get stretched and loose their elasticity over time. What you are describing happens to me a lot. Wash your mask straps and adjust them. Replace the cushion with a new one.

RE: Mask Farting noise
Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried a few and reread the primer ect. I also ordered a new style mask/headset which is arriving today but..
The last 2 nights were back to normal. I am pretty sure the solution was either the hose, which I replaced, or the water tank fit, it seemed a little loose so I taped around it ( I dont use the humidifier ) now the pressure feels much less, like it use to and no farting noises.. - I hope thats it and I will return the incoming mask. Thanks Again |
