Mask/Radiofrequency Turbinate Reduction
Hello,

I'm new here. So new to all of this that I'm still waiting for a cpap/apap/bipap. Hopefully, I will get my prescription on Monday.
In any case, I am having a radiofrequency turbinate reduction on Wednesday.
Has anyone had this procedure and found that it enabled them to use a nasal mask instead of only a full face? Anything I should know about the procedure or healing period?

Many thanks and have a great weekend!

RE: Mask/Radiofrequency Turbinate Reduction
I can chime in on this one. I was a full face mask user due to a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. I had experimented with pillows and it was just too uncomfortable. The pressure felt too high on the obstructed side. I had septoplasty and turbinate reduction a little over three weeks ago. I had to take a break from CPAP of 10 days from CPAP per my doctor for healing, but after that I started on a P10 pillow mask and it's been working great (aside from a little soreness around the outside of my nose.)

Not only is it more comfortable, the therapy is working better. Averaging about 0.5 AHI now. I do tape to keep my mouth from opening, but I can even flop on my back now and not see a significant increase in events. Not sure why since I had positional apnea issues before. If I slept on my side I was fine, but if I did roll on my back all hell would break loose. Not so using nasal pillows and mouth tape.

I have no regrets about getting the surgery. It really opened-up mask options for me and improved my therapy.
