I looked back and saw that you had posted the comment
“Medicare doesn’t require you to go back when you get a new machine and go through the rental thing again” (08-06-2021, 01:26 AM) The comment is what lead to my wondering if the total rental charge was higher than the single purchase price. Could you check your billing to see if the single charge is similar to the $331 rental charge? I am frugal and I would pursue if my DME charged me incorrectly.
RE: Medicare: DME questions
Rgn3, I went back online and found my invoice from the DME to Medicare from September 2020 so the total cost won't apply now. DME billed Medicare for $950. Medicare approved $429 and paid $343. Secondary (Tricare4Life) paid the balance of about $86. This was my second CPAP so it was a one-time purchase, no monthly payments.

Your single Medicare charge $343 was similar to my rental total charge of $331. So my concern that my DME may have done a rental to increase the charge has been laid to rest. I shall sleep well tonight.
Thanks to everyone who provided input.

Make sure you check on your supplement paying your responsible part. You shouldn't have any out of pocket expense.
