Medicare cpap 5 year replacement policy
For those who received a replacement cpap from philips, does anyone know if medicare calculates your eligibility for replacement from the date you originally received the equipment or the date you received the replacement? Mine was 3 years old when i received the rwplacement from philips. I would love to switch to resmed if medicare calculates eligibility from original purchase date vs philips replacement date.. anyone with ideas? Thanks

I don't have an answer to your question, however, I would go to the Dr that prescribed in orology and ask for a new RX for a ResMed 10 or 11.  Take it to your supplier and let them send in the paperwork.  You can pick it up after they get the OK.  They will try because they are getting money from the sale.

The replacement machine from Phillips has nothing to do with how Medicare works, it's two separate things.  It's unlikely that Medicare is even aware of the replacement you received, unless you tell them.

I believe Medicare will consider your eligibility for a new machine based on the original purchase date.  You can then just keep the replacement from Phillips as a backup.

I had the same question.  I talked to my CPAP supplier and they told me that when my five years was up this month that I could get a new machine.  I plan on doing so...
