Moderate OSA - CPAP Therapy Review
Hi Everyone,
I have recently been diagnosed with moderate OSA following an at home sleep study:
- AHI 20.6
- RDI 17.0
- Sleep stage normal
- Sleep efficiency 57%
- Moderate snoring
- Nadir 89%
I had for a few years noticed that I would wake up feeling unrefreshed and I would get sleepy throughout the day. Never severe enough to fall asleep at work or while driving but enough to have it really affect my concentration.
I stated CPAP therapy about a week ago and I haven't really felt much of a difference since commencing therapy even though my AHI every night has been below 5.
The first night of therapy and every night since the mask has not been a bother for me and I have been able to get to sleep just fine. I also sleep the whole night aside from waking up once or twice (that I can remember) to readjust myself.
The treatment so far has been less than desirable as I was basically handed the results and told to start immediate CPAP without ever speaking to a doctor. I am waiting for an appointment with a sleep specialist but that is a few months away so I was hoping that this community might be able to offer some insight into getting better sleep until I get a chance to speak with a doctor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, please let me know if there is any detail I am missing from my post.
