My humidity setting is at 4.
The hose is a slimline and the face mask is a Mirage Quattro
The nasal mask is a F&P Eson.
Thanks to this forum I now have the software and have started to read the data. It's nice to be in control! I was ready to throw the machine in the garbage!
You can set the temperature of your humidifier too. I think mine is at 83 (I have it in my profile) and also a heated hose helps too. Have you tried that? Someone said
Supplier #10 is having a year end sale and lots of discounted prices on some of their supplies. If you don't have insurance, check it out. Hope this helps. And, as others have said, stick with it as your life and your organs depend on treatment for your OSA!

Thanks!

Normally, I turn the machine off but detach the hose from the mask, keep the mask on and the chinstrap helps keeps the mask in place

I'll be sure to power down next time I get up in the night. My wife is a wizard with a sewing machine and I showed here some photos of chin straps. "I can make one of those" was her reply so since funds are a little tight we'll give the home made option a go.
The humidifer seemed to work fine when I lived in Ontario. In fact it was a little too good as I'd get quite a bit of water in the supply hose! It was hot and humid at the time.

Hi esprit,
For your hose, you can make a hose wrap out of old socks, just cut the toes out of them and sew them together and make a tube out of the socks and put it over the hose and that will take care of the water in the hose, (rainout.)

Thanks. I'll give that a try.
RE: New guy not getting much results from CPAP machine
Ok, last night I used the nasal mask and a home made chin strap. I slept for 9:57 hours . Here's the results:
Apnea Index: .8
Obstructive: .6
Central: .2
Hypopnea index: .9
AHI : 1.7
Leaks: 0
Not bad results. If I read these correctly I'm below the apnea threshold
RE: New guy not getting much results from CPAP machine
I also would like to add that I still feel really tired. Any reason why that would be? I did wake 4 times in the night though.

You sound like me, so I will watch your progress with care.
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be 'What Is Hell?' Come early and listen to our choir practice.

Frequent awakenings is the problem, not enough time in deep sleep which is essential for that restorative sleep
Same with me when started out, took me some months to sleep through the night and most night get up at least once

RE: New guy not getting much results from CPAP machine
I slept better last night although it was only 6.5 hours (New Years Eve-got to bed at 2:30am!). I woke up in the same position I went to bed in (on my side). Felt more alert today-only now am I starting to feel a little tired. My jaw is starting to feel much better too now that I'm not wearing the dental appliance.
Here's the numbers from last night:
Apnea index: .4
Obstructive: .4
Central: 0
Unknown: 0
Hypopnea Index: 1.3
AHI: 1.7
Leak:
Median: 0
95th Percentile: 0
Maximum: 1.2
What should I use to clean out the supply hose and mask? There's quite a bit of moisture in them and I don't want bacteria or mold to form.
