New looking for insight
Hello all,

I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea with an AHI of 13.5 and have been using my CPAP machine for about a week now. It's been a little difficult to get used to, and I didn't see any of those miraculous overnight results you sometimes hear about but I understand that all of this is a process. I saw how you can use OSCAR to keep an eye on your data and try to dial in your machine, so I ordered an sd card and have a nights worth of data to look at. It does look like my numbers are decent but I'm honestly unsure of what I should be looking for. My AHI seems low but I have still been waking up through the night quite a bit. I would really appreciate any help in interpreting this data and any advice you all could give me. Thanks in advance!

You look pretty good for just starting out, all I would do for now would be to raise your minimum pressure to perhaps 9.6cm and lower your maximum to 14cm.  I suggest the minimum pressure raise to see if it will eliminate some of the apneas and arousals that you are having.   Try the new settings for a day or two then post some more charts.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice, i'll give those settings a try. Glad to hear things are looking alright, it's been difficult getting used to the mask and keeping it on.

I'm back with some more data, I initially assumed my machine wouldn't adjust pressure by decimals and just bumped it up to 10 for the first night. I worked it out yesterday though and set it down to 9.6, it's just a day of data for each setting but it's surprising looking at the difference in events between the two. I'm fairly certain the large leaks are from waking up and adjusting the mask.

I do feel like I slept better last night, I imagine some of that is also where i'm still getting used to wearing it through the night but it looks like dialing in the pressure did have an effect on those OAs I was having.

Edit: Wanted to add that if the charts look weird it's because i'm on a late schedule, the data is recording from 12-12 so it's cutting an hour or two from the end of each night and attaching it to the next day's report. I tried to zoom in so you could see the nights data.

Your leaks are not high enough to worry about at all.  Ignore them.

I would use the setting that you feel the best at, that's what it is all about.  The arousals that you are having just prior to falling asleep and waking are fairly normal (sleep, wake junk).

I would try the new setting for a week or so, but they appears to be in the the ball park.

Good luck, let us know if you need any more help.

RE: New looking for insight
Hello again!

I've been having some ups and downs with the therapy, but overall I do feel like my sleep quality has improved. The last several nights though I feel like there's been something going wrong, my AHI scores are still pretty low but I've been waking in the night quite a bit and do not feel as rested.

Part of the issue has been condensation in the P30i pillows dripping into my nose and waking me up. I've been trying to adjust the hose heat and lowered the humidity all the way to 1, I even bought a hose cover but nothing has helped so far. I know I could either crank the temperature all the way up or turn the humidity off entirely, but my nose and throat gets dried out with the humidity off. I've been raising the temp bit by bit but it seems to mess with my sleep if the air coming in is too warm.

Strangely, most of last nights data is missing when I loaded it into oscar. It only recorded some time from the night before, and the last three hours or so of my usage last night.

I'll post some charts too, things look a little off but I'm not really sure what i'm looking at to be honest. As always I greatly appreciate any help or advice!
