RE: New product to help prevent mask leaks called V-Com
Got my V-Com yesterday and tried it out last night. For some reason with the V-Com in place my Resmed AirFit F30 QuietAir elbow is making very loud air noises on inhaling and when I remove the V-Com the air noises go away and back to normal.
I'm using the Resmed AirSense 10 AutoSet, CPAP mode, 12.2 pressure, EPR 2, AirFit F30 mask (I'm a mouth breather). I tried a different new QuietAir elbow with same results of loud air noises on the inhale with V-Com installed. Very quiet without the V-Com installed. I tried turning EPR off and still same loud air noises. I thought this V-Com made the system more quiet? Is there anyone having the same issue with making more noises?

They have a white paper on their site that explains their thesis and the device effects pretty well.

Thank You cdplatt for posting the article.
It answered some and created a lot more questions. Do any of the resident experts have any comments?

There is also a podcast where Emma Cooksey (CPAP Diaries or something like that) interviews Dr. Noah, the pulmonologist who invented the device. I found it very helpful.
Personally, I plan to give it a try in the event I can quit mouth taping. If it works…great…if not, oh well.

How this V-com product would help me as a UARS patient or it is more for OSA patients? I'm using a pressure range from 7-11 resmed autoset 10.
