OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
Attempting to import data from a Resmed S9.
New card installed Friday.
Windows 11; card is locked when reading.
When I start import OSCAR says a Resmed file structure for S9 located, but then it says it couldn't find any valid machine data.

Root of SD Card:

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
Hi Kyriosjon! - Welcome
What OS and OSCAR version are you using? Are you pointing OSCAR to the SD card or inside the SD card?

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
A quick update;  I reviewed my S9's data (just to make sure) and I see you're missing some entries in the main directory. You should have a "SETTINGS" folder and a file named journal.dat.  In case these are listed as "hidden", make sure you can view any hidden files in your file browser.

I forgot to ask, what model of the S9 do you have?
Here is a picture of where to find this information:

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
It is an AutoSet.
This was a new blank card, so it wouldn't have the setup data from the Resp Tech.
When I put the card back the CPAP in it complained about invalid format (I must not have had the write protect all the way on), so I let it reformat and will try again in a day or two.

Reformat the SD card to FAT32 and try again.

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
Not all the newer low cost SD readers have the Write-Protect microswitch and circuitry. The tab on the SD card's side is only a suggestion to the reading device. It is nothing more than a piece of plastic that isn't connected to anything. We offer scripts to disable the System Volume writing to removable devices on a Windows computer. The version of Windows is needed to provide the correct one.

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
Windows 11 is so new, these steps have not been documented as working on it.   Additionally, the Home version limits several ways to stop the System Volume Information (S.V.I.) process.  Please try the following steps and see if this stops writing to the SD card.   You will know if it worked when you reinsert the SD card back in your S9.  If it doesn't ask to format the card, then it worked.
  1. Right click "Computer"
  2. Select "Manage"
  3. Double click "Services and Applications"
  4. Single click "Services".
  5. In the right pane, scroll down and find "Storage Service".
  6. Right click, and select "Properties".
  7. If it is running, click the "Stop" button.  Then in the dropdown labelled "Startup Type:" select "Disabled"
This will prevent the unnecessary storage service from running, since it is responsible for creating System Volume Information on SD cards and USB drives.

Good luck!

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
Ok, did that. OSCAR still says "no machine data."
I assume that's because there are no machine settings on my card

RE: OSCAR: Couldn't Find Valid Machine Data
I am not sure if OSCAR can find and create a zip file copy of a disk that is says has no valid data, but let's try.

Go to the Help menu, -> Troubleshooting-> create zip file of CPAP data card

Use you forum name as part of the zip file name and upload it to our Dropbox:

https://www.dropbox.com/request/REp6AH7LCGyeOcXfOokH

I will try to sort out what has happened.
