A direct USB connection to a PC will allow the Android to be seen as a device, thus allowing access to the directory tree. Secondly, I also installed an FTP server app and pointed its access point to the data location of my ViHealth files. Now, I just run an automated FTP rsync transfer script to obtain the files. It can be done.

What you describe is no longer possible, it used to be, but not anymore. You cannot copy files from the Android/data folders via USB (MTP or ADB), or even internally on the device itself. That functionality has been deprecated. There are a lot of angry posts about this, everywhere. What Android device & version are you running? They started the "scoped storage" lockdown in Android 11, but there were workarounds, but they have been killing those off progressively, and today in 2024 on Android 14, it's nearly impossible. Quite frustrating, as the reason I use Android is to have a high level of control over my device, but alas, that has changed.
