Brand new (to CPAP and the forum)

RE: Brand new (to CPAP and the forum)
looks like you need an auto pressure (ultimately) of 12 to 18. If you do not need expiratory pressure support, you wont need bilevel unless your max pressure needs go up a smidge - your current machine maxes at 20 where a bilevel machine will go 25.

pressure changes at the bottom end should be made gradually (for comfort)

Consider turning off VS2 to reduce noise in your event chart Smile

but after all that - looking good so far

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum

Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night

Awesome - thank you so much for the advice! I'll look for the VS2 "mute" next time I'm in the software. Wink

Woohoo!!!

Only problem? I woke up in the same position I went to sleep, and apparently didn't move all night. My left hip is SORE. But in reading up on it, looks like that should go away in time? May look into mattress toppers next, if not. Wink

The Dreamwear mask came today already! We'll see if the numbers hold up with a different style mask. I really, really hope so, because the PR ComfortGel is still not comfortable (though it's better than the first night I put it on).

So happy things seem to be working! Big Grin

Last night was my first night with the Dreamwear mask -- and, as I expected, my AHI went up. Nothing extreme - 2.86 - and I think part of it was me tugging and shifting the mask. The Dreamwear is super comfortable, but is a huge change from a regular nasal mask. That's especially true when the pressure gets high - I don't notice it when I'm sleeping, but if I happen to wake up while the machine's running at a pressure of 14 and up, I definitely know it. Not uncomfortable, but a weird feeling with all that air blowing in your nose. Wink

All in all, I think I'll be much happier with the DW -- and will throw my PR ComfortGel Blue in a box to only be used in an emergency!
