Operating CPAP with battery....
#41
RE: Operating CPAP with battery....
Just a word of caution when considering any type of battery for CPAP and that is this: retail "claims" often fall well short in real-world applications. We constantly hear on the forums about folks who think a certain battery will power their CPAP at such-and-such a pressure for a certain number of hours. But what counts is actually operating that particular CPAP with the chosen battery under real conditions. In addition, the other factor is making sure the tests include using it for multiple charging cycles to make sure that the battery capacity meets expectations over time.

I wouldn't buy a battery unless and until I've read several owners independently report/review that the particular battery worked great for them with a CPAP using similar settings as my own, considering whether or not they gave it a real test (not just for a few hours, but for several nights or whatever without a recharge).

Just some thoughts... Coffee

I'm not recommending this battery but Supplier #2 has "Owell Industries OW-12-C266" for $299.00.

Oh, I've been looking at that for a while. You'd need that battery kit and the cord (almost to the bottom of the page) which for the S9 is $115.

My apologies if you replied and asked me a question. I don't recall receiving an email or something indicating there was a reply or question pending. If permitted by the website administrator, I would tell you the website where I bought it from but the price was $299.00 as mentioned by above by JJJ.

Hello, SuperSleeper—
I’ve been doing a lot of research into deep cycle batteries + solar recharging + recharging with a battery maintainer because I want to set up such a system for Florida/hurricane outages.

You just blew my mind with this statement cuz I’ve not seen anyone anywhere say that using while charging is very bad. Your post is from 2013, so I’m wondering if you still see that as true. Going from a wall socket battery maintainer just to keep the battery from getting low was my intent during use but now you’ve given me serious pause to doing that.

FWIW, I’m looking at a 100ah AWG battery and a maintainer made for such batteries, going Phillips DC cable from a socket with a DreamStation 1 (12V 6.6amp input according to its brick).

If you're using the battery because of a power outage, how could you possibly be charging the battery while you're sleeping at night?

I wouldn’t be, of course. My intention was to have the battery maintainer connected and feeding the battery during normal operation on the rarer occasion we’d have a power outage and otherwise to keep the battery topped up while I was using it.
