[Pressure] Help me understand Oscar report and optimize CPAP therapy

Help me understand Oscar report and optimize CPAP therapy
Hi all,

Request:

Please could someone interpret my most recent OSCAR data. I have recently installed OSCAR and I do not know where to start re: analysing my data. Please do not hesitate to request more data if it's required.

I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea (AHI 14) after regularly waking up feeling unrefreshed/experiencing consistent day time fatigue, and recently received a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset machine. Having used the machine for the last 2 months with a nasal mask, I was still not able to wake up fresh, still experienced brain fog and fatigue.

My AHI is consistently around 0.8 - 1 and my pressure range was 5-15 However, despite my improved AHI ( below 1), I did not notice much/any improvement in my daytime energy. After searching on the internet, I figured that the mouth tapping would help me, my leak rate went to zero and I feel a bit better.. However, I feel like I can do/feel better. Can you guys help me with my Oscar report, I need to understand whats going on with my Flow rate and why its spikes randomly and How to improve it. Do I need to increase the min pressure a bit more ?

Thank you.

RE: Help me understand Oscar report and optimize CPAP therapy
Your data generally looks fine. You have done a good job honing in on what works for you.

The pressure range seems to be working well for handling apnoea, flow limitations are in the range we like to see, and tidal volume is good. Your flow rate is a bit spiky, but nothing that require an immediate intervention.

One thing I suggest is limiting the min-max range a bit more. The goal is to try and smooth things out a bit more to reduce the arousal breaths that are likely disturbing your deeper sleep stages.

Mode APAP
Min pressure 10
Max pressure 12
EPR 3 full-time
No ramp

If after a few days (or sooner) it does not seem to help, then go back to your original settings. Depending on how things go, we can help tweak things further from there.

Note that not all sleep issues are CPAP related. There are very few “aha” moments with CPAP therapy, it is a slow process to improve sleep quality that takes time. Please read the link in my signature on “Sleep Hygiene” and see if anything there helps.
