Help needed how to use cpap on a plane
Hi all am travelling on 15 hour overnight flight Air Canada. Plane is a 777-200 I am in a Premium Economy Seat last row before the divider.
Going to buy an Air Mini to take with me. I have no idea about the practical use of it on a plane though, I gather I need to buy a battery for it as Air Canada apparently don't want you to plug them in.
Where does it sit? Can i just sit it on my lap with me as its only a mini?. What batteries will be Compliant with Flying Codes? Would the cpap noise from the mini disturb other passengers or does the plane drown it out.
My Sleep Apnea is very severe and I never sleep without my CPAP. Had to be resuscitated after a procedure as they didn't put my cpap on me in recovery :
.
..and I guess i need to inform Air Canada ahead of time, anything else I need to know, am a bit embarrassed about even wearing it on the plane, am on the aisle seat and husband is next to me in a row of four.
Current set up S10 Autosense with nasal pillows, full compliance and doing really well on it since 2016

The maximum battery power allowed in the cabin is limited. The laptop info section has it. A long flight with CPAP might exceed this limit.

I'd say the best thing you can do is call Air Canada ahead of time.
One thing for you to note is that cabin pressure for a 777 is set to around 6000 feet rather than most airliners which pressurize to 8000. This is nice, especially for you, but if you have never used your CPAP at altitude before it may behave a little differently at a given setpoint pressure compared to sea level. I know some members here have noticed the difference when travelling and I would encourage them to share some tips if warranted.

I would venture to bet that on a 15-hour flight, there'll be other passengers with CPAP's, so you're not gonna look weird!
I have no idea about using a cpap on a plane. However, I think there might be some tips on taking it through security! I'd not want grubby fingers handling my mask, hose, and other bits and bobs. I'd want my bag super-well labeled, so they don't argue that it's luggage. I'd want to keep anything out that might trip xrays going through customs (I mean, I wouldn't store candy, "candy", the family jewels, or wads of cash in your hose). I'd take an extra supply of disinfectant wipes, so I can clean out my little area on the plane to minimize contamination. I often carry these, and offer one to the person next to me as a goodwill gesture.
A challenge for some.... there's an extra bag to carry. By the time you get a handbag, carry on, and CPAP bag, you've got your hands full. You might want to consider in advance how you're going to keep it all with you while you browse the airport bookstore.
