[Product Review] ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)

RE: ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)
I have been using the f40 for about two months or longer.  Love this mask.  It’s the only ffm I can use all night and get no leaks and Ahi below 0.4,
Give it time and tape the
lower lip area with tape to reduce discomfort.
I will be happy to assist with any questions about this mask.  .

I too really like the F40 but am getting a lot of red marks from it. I had been using the AirTouch F20 and while it's bulkier, it left no marks. What kine of tape do you use to mask your chin area?

I use Hypafix tape.  I put the tape around my nasal septum area.

RE: ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)
Slept with an F40 last night for the first time. Last time I tried a FFM was 10 years ago and I hated it.

The F40 was so much better than my first experience and I might end up using it if my other nasal pillow experiments don't pan out.

I don't know if my headgear or pillow is the right size. I'm 5'8" so standard should be fine.

Last night I used the medium pillow and my observations were the following:
1) I have to tighten it quite a bit to not have leaks, so much that I can feel pressure wherever the mask touches my face.
2) Whenever I end up on my back and have my head slightly to one side, that side or the other side would leak until I tighten even further.
3) The side of my nostril was slightly painful.

I might try a small-wide pillow tonight to see if it works better with the nose, but I suspect it will have less space below my mouth.

Experiments are quite expensive due to cost of each size pillow.

Do others also have to tighten the mask to the point where it is less comfortable?

You should not tighten to the point where it is painful.  Put it on loose then turn on the machine and tighten slowly to get a seal, the cushion inflates a bit to aid with the sealing.

I am loving the F 40 . Let me explain - the F30 would not seal well at all and sometimes came  unhooked on magnet due to having to over tighten headgear straps to overcompensate  for mouth and nose leaks -
The first night the F40 exceeded all expectations - it sealed great and I had no trouble breathing through nose once I adjusted it. I  have nasal obstruction problem so I was fitted with large cushion and standard headgear .
The only issue is it dries up nasal passages just like the F30 did and wakes me up after 2 hours but then I steam and wet nasal passages then go back to sleep with no problem . I love the softness of the cushion and I am now sleeping on my side for the first time with masks . Couldn’t do it comfortably with either F20 and F30. I can’t understand all the negativity surrounding the F40 as it is an incredible mask system with a lot of R and d behind it .

Some  people have complained that the nostril holes don’t line up well and that the divider bridge between the 2 nostril holes covers one of the nostrils .  Do you find this to be the case ? How would one compensate for this ?

According to the F40 measuring guide I started with a medium mask cushion and had the same problem with nostril alignment. That problem went away for me when I changed to a large mask cushion.

Fixed it, that is same with me- I was fitted with a medium cushion then was switched to large cushion , and seems much better . How is the seal for you on F40?

I have been able to get a leak rate eventually below 5. I made manual adjustments to ClimateLine temperature and humidity settings as well as playing with strap tension, but I can't seem to eliminate the red marks the cushion leaves on my face.
