ResMed S9 SD Card Died

ResMed S9 SD Card Died
The SD card on my husband's S9 died.  He got a new card--do we need to do anything other than just plug it into the machine?

You should be able to just plug it in and it should be good. Your machine might ask if it can format the card (erase existing data) - this is OK.

Thanks so much. Thought that was the answer. It is a brand new card so hopefully all will be OK. Our hearts go out to all those in Australia that are suffering with the terrible fires.

I'd agree, it should be plug n play.

Just make sure that the little slider on the SD card is in the unlocked position and you should be good.

Thanks for your post.
My S9 card died too, and I did replace it with a card I had. I had already made a commitment to go get one from my DME, several hours away. Thank heaven I didn't have to.

I'm more cautious now. (I used to forget to set "write protect" when I used Sleepyhead. I do do that now with OSCAR.)

I share your thoughts with Australia fires.

RE: ResMed S9 SD Card Died
Your SD card may be gone. I’ve had SD cards appear to have died with my S9. I’ll get an error message and neither the machine nor my PC will be able to read it. But I’ll use SD Formatter software and sometimes they come back.

You should still get a new card so that all your machine data is protected, but you might want to re-format your old card and if it works, you’ll have a backup.

And keep a spare!

There are a dozen sellers on eBay selling brand new ResMed SD Cards, in the ResMed SD Card carrier, for under $15 shipped. (don't pay more!)

RE: ResMed S9 SD Card Died
I've experienced the appearance of an SD card death, only to find that my S9 can be a little premature on trying to connect and format it. You might try reformatting it in your computer and copy and read a small file to verify it is good. If successful, always preform a total power down by removing the power plug from the S9 before removing or inserting the card. This added step and additional time seems to eliminate this problem. I have several FlashAir Wi-Fi cards that I thought were toast until I tried this.

While we're on the subject of formatting SD cards, which file format is the right one for CPAP?

Examples: FAT32, exFAT or NTFS etc.
