RE: Help with Bilevel ST
Try forcibly blowing back into the ASV. That tells the ASV that it needs to take some time and recalculate your breathing, this giving you a bit of a break to actually fall asleep

RE: Help with Bilevel ST/ New ASV
Larry I merged your post on ASV with the previous thread on ST. There is useful information from your past posts that will be helpful to keep together with your current issues.
With ASV, the machine will respond with pressure support to maintain your minute vent. Your history shows you frequently have a lot of hypopnea right at sleep onset, and this is probably also happening with ASV. The machine is working as it should to boost your ventilation volume and you are sensing this as a run-away pressure. Veteran users of ASV adapt to this behavior, but they often suggest using "the blow-back technique". When you feel the pressure is too strong or out of phase, blow back forcefully in your mask. This will cause the machine to pause its elevated pressure support and get back in sync. It would help if we updated your profile with the Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV and if you would post a chart or provide your new settings.

RE: Help with Bilevel ST/ New ASV
First, just to be sure we've got it right, you now have ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV correct?
If yes on the ASV, I've dealt with this myself. Just as you're drifting off to sleep with mask on and the ASV blows. Now we're awake for a while. OK, the fix is to blow back into the mask. This somewhat resets the ASV into behaving while you're trying to sleep. I've forgotten to look at your info, but this blow back works with full face masks. Was also going to mention updating sidebar to state correct machine.
