Rogueshot's Therapy Thread

RE: Rogueshot's Therapy Thread
It's a lot easier to explain a successful result than one that fails. It's really pretty simple, in terms of the lower PS, but your doctor may be completely unaware of the trigger sensitivity. Educate him/her.

RE: Rogueshot's Therapy Thread
Good day all,
I have my meeting this afternoon with the doc. I'll share any feedback I get.

The patient portal I am required to use to share data is so limited that I basically just shared the screenshots from Oscar. I've asked if they need/want further data. I'm interested to hear their response. It was fun to share last night's data of 0.13 AHI. For all my years being on bipap, never before do I recall a night with just 1 event total...never ever has happened.

Thanks all!

RE: Rogueshot's Therapy Thread
Doc was understanding about tweaks to settings; advice was to stay the course; check back in 6 months. Getting me connected to a supplier so I can try some different masks/chin straps and use insurance to cover.

They did ask if I wanted a new machine that would transmit data using wifi (mine stopped given the 5G change over) but I turned it down as my system works fine and I didn't want to take away a machine from someone in need given all the supply chain issues.

Later.

RE: Rogueshot's Therapy Thread
So an update. All my numbers since changing over to Vauto and to high sensitivity have been under 1.0, which has been great.

But I have this lingering tired feeling in/around my eyes. Like I'm groggy and do have bags under them. It's weird - I don't feel tired but my eyes make it seem like I am.

Any suggestions?

I was reading about possible micro-arrousals but have really no idea. My doc mentioned getting a new mask implying the tight fit I currently do with my mask might might cause the feeling. I'm trying to schedule a time to do that.

RE: Rogueshot's Therapy Thread
Here's my recent results. Given how I can now sleep on any side/back my mask has been slipping and definitely having more leaks as well I noticed I'm drooling more and have periods of a dry mouth/throat. So, I just ordered some lip tape to see how that works. I also still am trying to setup a mtg to try new masks.

But, if any suggestions on tweaking of settings to get me to feel more rested are appreciated.

Take care.

Looks fine to me, but I'm kind of nonchalant about my own results and have not uploaded a SD card since June 4. Your pressure is steady, event rate is low and you are at the point of just tweaking minor stuff from night to night. I would not worry at all about that leak rate either.

RE: Rogueshot's Therapy Thread
Hi All!
Been awhile and treatment has been successful until recently. Currently on a little trip and my ancient workhorse of a bipap had some issues last night that caused me to lack significant sleep. As I'm traveling I can't access the data on the SD card to give accurate details. But hoping a few can chime in on my thoughts.

Reading through some past threads I have some ideas of what it might be but first the issue...

I'm on vauto bipap running between 8-12 and usually under 1 AHI. My machine is old and has the warning of motor exceeded the life expectancy but my doc wants to wait until my appointment in June.

So last night I woke up after 3.5 hrs with 0 events which I thought was unique. I resumed it again with a 15-minute ramp. Vauto was doing it's slow ramp up but then a couple minutes in it went full pressure (12ish). I wasn't fully asleep yet so it was a shock. And it was not a bipap flow but more like a CPAP flow so very different from what I'm used too. I restarted numerous times and it seemed to happen again and again and I could hardly fall asleep. Sometimes I did but seemed like a light sleep. I did this for hours. Yet, when I finally got up the machine showed on 4 hrs of use and still 0 events. I'm sure I used it more like 5-6 hours and probably had plenty of events given the weird flows.

So, I probably need a new machine. But until then, for tonight I will try turning off smart sleep. I also checked all cords and connections and turned ramp up to 5 minutes and tested it and it seemed to work in bipap mode.

But any thoughts? I'm definitely not an expert here.

Thanks for your time!
-Chris

Follow-up...I think my humidifier is broken so I turned it off too. That combined with the other tweaks mentioned seemed to get it back into working order and tracked AHIs and usage properly. As well it sensed my breathing and operated in bipap mode all night. I'll try to download data and share when I return to my computer.

Chris, if you're coming up on needing a new machine, it's a good idea to get the process rolling by talking with your doctor about renewal. You can also see the run-hours in the clinical menu/about. Starting at 21K hours you will start seeing a motor life exceeded message.
