Trial of CPAP vs APAP
'morning
Neither CPAP (12) or APAP (5-15) reduced the number of apneic events.
What might be the reasons for this.
I have been disappointed that the APAP did not take me below 5 AHI.
Am I being overly optimistic? Does it take time?
Since Dx November 2015 I have worked my way through 7 different masks. Finally settled on ResMed P10 nasal pillow. Developed terrible pressure sore from Swift FX nasal pillow.
Today see Sleep Dr. and she will compare the trials of the CPAP vs the APAP and make a decision. I fear the decision may be BPAP trial.
Really thought today I would be buying an APAP machine and sleeping merrily the rest of my nights.
Thank you all for previous advice and support.

RE: Trial of CPAP vs APAP
Jane, not much we can offer without seeing some more details. What kind of events, what are average and 90% pressure?
Are you saying your treated AHI is not better than the diagnostic sleep study? If you can post some sleepyhead data it would sure help us to offer some clues. This tutorial describes how to organize data. The free software download link is at the top of the forum. If I had to guess, your 5-15 pressure has a minimum pressure too low, considering you did not find relief with fixed CPAP at 12. It may be your minimum pressure should be 12 and use the APAP to raise pressure as needed. But without knowing the type, number or circumstances of the events, this is all guessing.

Start walking your min pressure up . Its too low
