RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
pjfollyfarm--
Let's try something.
I copied the free 7zip file compression program from the official 7-zip.org site onto our SleepFiles.com server.
Here's the link to the 7zip 64-bit Windows installation file:
http://www.sleepfiles.com/7z1514-x64.exe [file now removed]
Try downloading this small installation file and see if you can begin the 7zip installation process with that file. (you don't need to continue with the installation - this is just to check if this particular exe file will execute for you).
If you can get that .exe file to execute and start up, then this may be an issue with your copy of the SleepyHead download file.
If you can't get that 7-zip file compression exe to execute, then it's a problem with your computer specifically.
Let us know how it goes. Once you've downloaded the exe from the link above, and I'll delete it from the SleepFiles.com server.

Thanks SuperSleeper,
That file downloaded & the execution seemed to work OK. It created a new program directory & copied a few files to it before stopping.....
One more piece of information......
Happy days
RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
Thanks. I just wanted to eliminate one possible problem - so we know your machine still will allow you to execute install files that were downloaded from the SleepFiles.com site - at least that's not the problem.
I'm just as baffled as you are. Perhaps Alan and those-who-are-much-better-at-this-stuff can come up with answers.
Bummer. (for now).
Anyway, thanks for trying that, at least.

RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
By stopping you mean it completed the installation and you now have 7zip installed on your PC?

RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
Do you have any older versions of SleepyHead installed now? and how much space is left on your drive?
As you can see, I do not give up easily.

Yes it appeared to be installed on my machine. I didn't try to run it as I was unsure what it was actually for. In fact I then executed the unistall file which also seemed to work.

RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
Many many thanks to AlanE and SuperSleeper.
My HP Laptop with Windows 7 Professional, just would not install the latest Sleepyhead software available through this forum. Still not really sure why but......."bloody computers" probably applies.....
However, I was able to obtain an earlier version of the program (one with the "Broken GL" option - whatever that means) and it installed perfectly. It also uploaded the info from my ResMed S9 first time and everything appears to work so far......
Must say I really like the look of the data and graphs. Many thanks JediMark for all the work that must have gone into this. I look forward to learning more now about understanding and interpreting the information so freely available to me. So much better than having to rely on "Sleep Technologists" downloading the machine and being so guarded about what they would openly discuss with me, despite having a reasonably open and good communicating sleep specialist.
Also thanks to all who support the Apnea Board....a great tool for those of us with these various sleep afflictions.....
Happy days
PJ.
RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
P.J.-- Glad you were able to go back to the older SleepyHead version.
For those who can't run the new version, here's the archived download page for the older version:
http://www.apneaboard.com/SH-old/
That older 0.9.8-1 version includes both OpenGL and BrokenGL versions, which are described as:
BrokenGL - These are special compatability builds, that run on a wider range of video hardware. This is the more "foolproof" build.
OpenGL - Standard, faster graphs, but require an OpenGL 2.0 compatible graphics card. This build is "best", but won't run on all video cards. If the OpenGL build fails, try the BrokenGL.
Alan - question for 'ya-- is Mark's new beta-1 version OpenGL only or is there an option for folks with older graphics card to use a BrokenGL version?
Wondering if this was PJ's issue - not having an OpenGL 2.0 graphics card??

RE: Sleepyhead Download Issue
PJ's issues was that the installer would not run. I don't believe that had anything to do with OpenGL support but I'm not familiar with the installer he used.
Beta-1 It is OpenGL only. It was thought that the updated QT would have fixed the issues that required running BrokenGL. I can't say if BrokenGL will return in Beta-2 but Mark is aware of the issue.
