Sleepyhead Periodic Breathing ~ What?

Sleepyhead Periodic Breathing ~ What?
Last night I increased my lower pressure from 12 to 12.5 just to see if I could improve my numbers by changing a bit. I had a kind of weird night. I don't think my mouth was open, but I would wake up feeling like air was pushing out through my lips (if that makes any sense at all?). Anyway last nights AHI was 6.64 (the highest it's been in a while) and periodic breathing was 10.78%. Not sure what that means but that number has never been that high. In have included two Sleepyhead charts...last night with 12.5 low pressure and the previous night with 12 low. I don't think that small an increase could have contributed to all the increased numbers...or could it? With my settings at 12 low and 15 high, I have been having an AHI of about 4.75 average. I was hoping to be able to get around AHI 2 every night, but it's not happening. Please take a look and tell me what you think. Thank you!

RE: Sleepyhead Periodic Breathing ~ What?
The two charts have the exact same settings of 12.5-15.
What AFlex setting are you using? You may want to turn it off and see if the Clear airway events calm down a little.

+1 for turning off the flex, until the CA settle down. You will get use to the pressure you are running.
If you felt air pushing through your lips, you have an issue to look into more. There are no really large leaks on the chart.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure. https://aasm.org/resources/practiceparam...rating.pdf

Flex is off...or set at 1. I think that's as low as it will go on my Dreamstation, if I am looking at the settings correctly.

RE: Sleepyhead Periodic Breathing ~ What?
The pressure graphs shows you are using a flex setting. The second line (green line) is the drop in pressure when you exhale. You can get up to 2cm drop in pressure when using flex.

I guess I don't know how to turn it off. When I look at flex on my machine, I have an option of 1, 2, or 3.

In the therapy settings, there are 2 flex settings options. One is Flex at 1, 2, or 3. The other is Flex with options of off, a- flex, c-flex. The first one I had turned to 1 previously. The 2nd I just now turned to OFF instead or a-flex or c-flex. Is this correct? Thank you.

RE: Sleepyhead Periodic Breathing ~ What?
Yes, try "off" for a few days. It may or may not make a difference.

RE: Sleepyhead Periodic Breathing ~ What?
It can be quite misleading just to compare two night's results. We can get occasional glitches and unusually high or low readings for no apparent reason. You really need to make a change then wait a week or more to see what trends emerge.
