RE: Sleepyhead and ResMed
Did you find an editor or some other way to convert the config to DOS format ?

RE: Sleepyhead and ResMed
I came across this snippet from stackoverflow (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6373...to-windows) concerning the subject.

stackoverflow.com Wrote:Windows uses carriage return + line feed for newline: \r\n

Unix only uses Line feed for newline: \n

In conclusion, simply replace every occurence of \n by \r\n.
Both unix2dos and dos2unix are not by default available on Mac OSX.
Fortunately, you can simply use Perl or sed to do the job:

sed -e 's/$/\r/' inputfile > outputfile                # UNIX to DOS  (adding CRs)
sed -e 's/\r$//' inputfile > outputfile                # DOS  to UNIX (removing CRs)
perl -pe 's/\r\n|\n|\r/\r\n/g' inputfile > outputfile  # Convert to DOS
perl -pe 's/\r\n|\n|\r/\n/g'   inputfile > outputfile  # Convert to UNIX
perl -pe 's/\r\n|\n|\r/\r/g'   inputfile > outputfile  # Convert to old Mac

This code snippet is from:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newline#Co..._utilities

While not an elegant solution, it's better than nothing.

Good job Larry. I’m glad to hear things worked out well.

What did you have to do to get it working?

Basically to get it working, one has to replace linefeeds with carriage return + linefeed in CONFIG.  It's a bit harder to do in OS-X than it is in Windows.

RE: Sleepyhead and ResMed
Update:
I tried this command in Linux and it works great. I need someone with a OS X system to try this to see if it works.

Command:
sed -i -e 's/$/\r/' filename

Edit: Enter this command in a terminal window.   Replace filename with the name of the file you wish to convert.  Supposedly if it works, you should get a blank command prompt.  If not, it will probably output an error message.

I tried it but it says "no such file or directory".  I think you have to put it in the directory with the file first and I forgot how you do that!

RE: Sleepyhead and ResMed
You will need to either navigate to the directory that contains the file or include the path in the filename location when executing the command.

Examples: (Note: the names used are for examples only. Yours will be different)
#1 - changing to the directory that contains the file.
cd /Users/username/documents
sed -i -e 's/$/\r/' filename

#2 - entering the path in the command.
sed -i -e 's/$/\r/' /Users/username/documents/filename

It works.  At least I got another prompt!  The command:

sed -i -e 's/$/\r/' /Users/laurencemrappaport/Untitled.rtf

RE: Sleepyhead and ResMed
Hi Larry, The designer Mark Watkins of SleepyHead in Australia is so far as I knew too ill to work on SleepyHead at this moment. I have this information of a collegue of me by the Dutch apnea assocation. This collegue is one of the testmebers of sleepyHead in the Netherlands.

So I'm afraid it will not work. What you could do is buy a flash sd card with wifi on it. Then you could log on the sd card and send the information to your PC.

I am one of the moderators of the dutch Apnea Forum and found this message on our board. I translate this in Google so I hope you can understand it.

Here is the message:

I bought a Toshiba FlashAir WiFi SD card as an alternative to the standard SD card that came with the Dreamstation Auto CPAP (150X300) machine. Have configured and "ut worked" tonight, e.e.a. I can now extract data from the CPAP without using the SD card, using SleepyHead Beta 2.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A CPAP registers all sorts of measurement values and writes them in their own memory in which - depending on the type of machine - up to 5000 hours of measurement data can be stored. If a memory card is inserted into the CPAP, the card is recognized by the CPAP and the measured values are written with it. The SD card contains a folder with subfolders containing all kinds of compressed files with measurement data. If you remove the SD card from the CPAP and insert it into a laptop / card reader, you can view the contents of the card and the measured values with software that you first have to install on the laptop.

To prevent data loss and / or data being overwritten, it is recommended to first protect the SD card against writing by using the slide before you insert the card into the laptop / card reader. If you put the SD card back in the CPAP you must first remove the card from the lock. The insertion and removal of SD cards remains a risky activity and can - once you do not pay attention - lead to data corruption. If (Data on) the SD card fails, this will not affect the primary operation of the CPAP; but the measurement data can however be lost. Apart from the risk of data loss, it is also a hassle to have to walk to the bedroom each time to remove the SD card from the CPAP in order to view the measurement data on the laptop.

There are CPAPs - like the Dreamstation - that work with Bluetooth and an App on a telephone, without the SD card being used. The App retrieves the data from the CPAP via bluetooth and forwards it via the Internet to the Dreamstation website. Dreamstation now also supports machines in the Benelux. The disadvantage of this approach is that only a part of the measurement values are made available. The real nice details of what goes wrong when you do not see.

WIRELESS COMMUNICATION WITH THE CPAP

There are SD tickets for sale that are equipped with a WiFi access point. These tickets are often used in older digital cameras that do not have wireless facilities themselves. You can view the photos on the SD card from a laptop without having to remove the SD card from the camera (of course, the SD card can also be used as a normal SD card). WiFi tickets with 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB of storage are available for purchase. The SD / WIFI cards from Toshiba are - according to the reviews - the best tickets for sale. The fourth generation (W-04) cards from Toshiba have a storage capacity of 32 GB and costs roughly 70 Euro.

If you want to be able to read a Toshiba wifi SD card wirelessly from a laptop, you must first insert the card into the laptop and run the Toshiba software once, which you can download for free from their website. Through this software you can configure how the Wireless Network should be called (SSID) and what the password should be to use it. I have called the network "SleepyHead". A shortcut is then placed on the worksheet with which you can connect to the card from the laptop.

The laptop disconnects the normal WiFi connection, connects to the "SleepyHead" WiFi network and installs the SD card as a disk. You can then wirelessly work with the card as if the card is just in the laptop / card reader. If you do nothing, you can read and write from the laptop on the SD card. ATTENTION: The CPAP must of course supply the card (and not fall asleep) otherwise the WiFi SD card will not work. I'm still figuring out how I can prevent the Dream station from falling asleep ...

The SleepyHead software does not have any problems with the WiFI / SD card. The first time you will have to tell SleepyHead that the data is in a different folder than before. I created an extra profile that looks at WiiFi storage, so that I can always go back to the old profile with the old SD card. The speed at which the data is loaded is not lower than when I put the SD card in the laptop. SD card no longer needs to be in / out of the CPAP.

ERGO: WIFI SD card works fine and Dream station i.c.m. SleepyHead, but it only works if the CPAP is also on (and not "sleeping" ..)

RE: Sleepyhead and ResMed
Thank you for the explanation.  I do have a FlashAir card and I have gotten it to transmit the ResMed data to Sleepyhead on my Mac.  I had terrific help from Red (Crimson Nape) to do this.  I was trying to help him with a sed command.  The problem originally was the fact that when any Mac or Linux machine works on CONFIG, it separates lines with linefeeds only - not carriage returns and linefeeds which is required.
