SoClean & other CPAP cleaning machines

I've been skeptical about the SoClean system. Ozone is not a friendly chemical. I personally am going to stay away from it. I'm not convinced of its benefits versus cost. Thanks for the heads up. Very good to know

I have been using a SoClean 2 to cleans my equipment, but I have been getting a severe reaction that dries my skin to the point of cracking and bleeding. I contacted the maker and they said it could only be due to the presence of skin oils, etc. on the mask, that the ozone cleaning process should not cause this. Does anyone have any information about this problem?

Ozone is known to cause skin irritation. Try not using the SoClean for a week and see if your skin clears up.

+1 with don't use the ozone, it really is a waste of time. sell it on c/list
you may also find a mask liner may work. it's possible to be allergic to silicon. If you are a new user, it may just be your face getting use to the mask or it needs adjusting.

Thank you. That's what I have been doing. AT So Clean they told me the ozone could not cause irritation.

They sell a machine called So Clean that doesn't clean. Why should they stop the lies about skin irritation?

All you need to know about ozone is that on the SoClean web site you won't find that word.

Instead, they talk about "activated oxygen". Sounds wonderful. Kind of like when you get radiation treatment for cancer and they talk about "photons". Those sound gentle and harmless (unless they make you think of a photon torpedo).

Photons are much better than being told you will be irradiated by X-rays.

A Canadian health agency had this to say about ozone:

"Even very low concentrations of ozone can be harmful to the upper respiratory tract and the lungs. The severity of injury depends on both by the concentration of ozone and the duration of exposure. Severe and permanent lung injury or death could result from even a very short-term exposure to relatively low concentrations."

Also suggest you stop using chemical products on your face. Cleaners, creams, perfumes.

Start using natural products without harsch chemicals and fragrances.
Makes a huge difference, just switching soaps fixed all our hand problems at work. (From antibacterial soap with color and fragrance, to a regular soap with none of that)
