Strokes! Take note everyone.

Strokes! Take note everyone.
My cousins man has just been admitted to hospital with a stroke, he is as thin as a been pole.
He has been on CPAP for a few years now and they said he was doing fine.
Now in all this bad weather he has has to be rushed through roads that are almost blocked with drifting snow to the hosiptal.
I believe it took three hours to get into hospital after they picked him up.
It took an hour for the ambulance to get there with blue lights on due to the snow.
so four hours have passed since the stroke.  Hope he makes it.

Just goes to show, USE YOUR CPAP MACHINE, he used it when he felt like it.

Yep. My blood pressure goes up even after a single night of missing due to power outage or whatever.

Paula, really? My xPAP therapy hasn't had any affect on my BP at all. Or anything else as far as I can tell other than improving my O2 levels while sleeping. Which I can't measure myself so I'm just repeating what my sleep doctor told me after my second sleep study.

Thanks for the reminder, Sleep2Snore. My maternal grandfather had several strokes before he passed away FWIW.

Hope all is OK with the situation with your cousin.

RE: Strokes! Take note everyone.
Thanks everyone.

I can't get in to see him for two reasons, one is the snow and the other is they will only let in my cousin and her brother and his wife.
He is in the High Dependency Unit at the moment.
He is a very clever man, but he has no common sense, I told him over and over again that not using the CPAP would end up in a stroke or a heart attack.
He has invented a few things and the income from them means he does not need to work.  His house is huge for British standards here abouts.
He is also partly blind, though he used to drive until the last few years.
He invented lights for reversing trucks that told them how close they were when reversing to loading bays etc.
I can't remember what else he invented, but a lot of the things went to China to be built, they pay more.  So he says, I have no reason to not believe him.

I believe it!

The couple times I've not used my CPAP while sleeping (ie: one night I totally forgot, and other times napping on the couch or at the movie theater), I've woken up with a racing heart.

I hope your cousin is ok.
