Has anyone seen the replacement chamber for sale? I’m still new here, I’m not sure of the rules about posting links like that and I really don’t want to link to it because it is not an OEM part. You can find it on a big shopping site if you really want to go look. It claims it uses the same foam as resmed, but there is no way to know. If it’s a safe way to go it’d help out people who don’t want to drill and plug holes. I said if - don’t anyone get all excited and buy one because you could do more harm than good not knowing what this is made of.

So some smart people have recognized this "recall opportunity" and have not hesitated to take it by producing a replica foam assembly to replace the defective foam that is at the center of Philips recall, inside their Dreamstation line of CPAP machines.

Itr is very important to note that THIS IS NOT AUTHORIZED or ENDORSED BY PHILIPS and for all we know the foam used in these replacements may also be dangerous when coming in contact with Ozone lines of cleaners (like SoClean), or in fact they may even be dangerous, full stop. (and no the US FDA has not approved it and I don't know of any other nation's Health authorities who have). For all we know this item that is being sold on AMAZON is simply a chinese knockoff of the OEM part, so my recommendation is not to ruch into buying one because it costs less than $25.

At any rate, if you have already bought one and successfully replaced your existing CPAP foam assembly with it, let us know how it all went.
Does it work properly? Did it fit well? Is it as effective as the original foam to reduce noise? Is there any weird smell that comes off of it?

I didn’t buy the empty chamber, but drilled holes and plugged them with trimmed off plastic plugs. The defoamed ASV is not appreciably louder but the high frequencies may not be attenuated as much. Someone much younger with high frequency hearing may notice it. At higher pressures the airflow sound is more like white noise.

They state that it's polyether-based Urethane foam, which is what Resmed uses in their machines...

Hello, I didn't see this particular method of foam removal posted in this thread so I thought I should add.
It doesn't require any cutting of the chamber. Worked as demonstrated for me. Rinsed with water after to remove any stray little bits.

Note: As some have experienced, foam that is in a state of deterioration will be difficult no matter what method, removal of foam in this case may require some cutting of chamber to remove the stubborn bits.
