They state that it's polyether-based Urethane foam, which is what Resmed uses in their machines...

Yes, I noticed that they make a point of it in their ad. If true it can't be bad.
I am just concerned about the general fit of this thing because they have clearly reverse-engineered it and like with anything that gets RE'ed , the dimensions are never 100% like the OEM. If it doesn't fit perfectly, then it may not create a perfect seal and that can cause all kinds of problems.
At less than $25 though, I think I will just get one and try.
If it doesn't leak then the "Maskf Fit" cycle should come up 100%.

I didn’t buy the empty chamber, but drilled holes and plugged them with trimmed off plastic plugs. The defoamed ASV  is not appreciably louder but the high frequencies may not be attenuated as much. Someone much younger with high frequency hearing may notice it. At higher pressures the airflow sound is more like white noise.

I got a pair of ultrasound gadgets to scare off the various wildlife that frequent my backyard and I was showing them off when our adult kids were over . Then I turned the machine on, thinking that since I can't hear it, no one else can either and that's when everyone started screaming at me to turn them off and I'm going "what, why?"  :-)
I think I'm just gonna buy this set that's on Amazon and try replacing mine. If it seals proper then my "mask test" should show OK and I am thinking that the sound will be just as good.

I like that Drain Weasel approach. Go slow and steady.
Cleaning out the defoamed box would be easy.
How about cleaning the blower itself though.. likely some crap coating the insides. Maybe something like food-safe electrical contact cleaner sprayed in and swished about a few times ?

Swishing a solvent based cleaner would not be warranted as you would not know what it would do to the sensor between the two foam chambers

Yes the blower can be cleaned if like in linked video the two halves are held together with screws. Mine on the other hand is a sealed unit. Could view inside slightly through the intake and noticed the turbine blades did have a coating of grime (from 4 years of use). 
I have been using the micro-filters since I got it but I imagine a few summers of smoke from forest fires will eventually sneak in and collect on the blades. Decided not to disturb the coating as it would just fall into turbine casing and then get blown into my lungs. Hopefully it will stay put if I leave it alone.
Now if it is deteriorated foam lodged in there, the only thing I can think of to get any loose stuff out is to run the turbine for a couple of hours with tubing and humidifier removed and hopefully that will flush it out.
Not familiar with electrical contact cleaner, but it sounds like something worth looking into for cleaning the blower,
but I would for sure want to do a fair bit of research regarding ingredients and uses before trying
