F12 Screenshot not working

RE: F12 Screenshot not working
I have Ubuntu 24 loaded on one laptop and did not experience your problem. In fact, you are the first to report this anomaly. I'm beginning to believe that your function keys may have been remapped. Have you tried using the F12 key while holding down the Fn (Windows) key? If you are unsuccessful, then try the Alt and then the Ctrl.

RE: F12 Screenshot not working
This problem is resolved.  The solution was to disable Wayland.

Details:
While troubleshooting the problem I had turned on 'Show Debug Panel' in OSCAR under 'Help, Troubleshooting'.  After doing so and retrying a screenshot, I noticed this in the Debug Panel:

Warning: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()

But since it was 'just' a warning, i didn't pursue it.  However, I eventually decided to Google the text of that warning and see what it was all about.  Several hits talked about disabling Wayland in Ubuntu, which forces it to use Xorg.  So I decided to give it a try as follows:

   1. Open a terminal window and execute 'sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf'
   2. Uncomment the line, '#WaylandEnable=false' and save custom.conf
   3. Restart Ubuntu

Having done that, I ran OSCAR and screenshot now works! So far, I haven't noticed a problem in Ubuntu with having Wayland disabled.

P.S. I had already tried both the F12 key and the menu option for 'View, Take Screenshot', so I wasn't suspecting my F12 key was remapped.

Thank you.  Shy

Thanks for informing us. I guess the Ubuntu people are trying to not be outdone by the Apple 'shrooms with throwing new things in the mix.
