Any tips for getting consistent results when away from home? Should I adjust my mask to account for the pillows? Or is it normal to have poor results when traveling?

Tips for adapting set up when traveling
At home I sleep on a wedge pillow, drape the hose over the headboard, and wear a c-collar. The collar rolls up for travel, so I bring that. I just started using a foldable hose hanger (it’s flimsy and shifted some nights). I try various pillow configurations. On my most recent trip, AHI ranged from .4 to 16.9. And I snored.

RE: Tips for adapting set up when traveling
Results are typically worse when travelling (as you're out of your nest). I take a spare hose hanger with me that fits in my cpap travel bag (as I can't stand a hose draping on my body)-it also causes leaks. I think wedge pillows are not worth the hassle in general, have you tried a very flat pillow at home? If the wedge works you'd have to find a solution for that when you travel though.

RE: Tips for adapting set up when traveling
I haven’t tried a flat pillow, but it might be better for travel than trying to get the angle right with pillows. I think that’s contributing to positional apnea.
The wedge helps with aerophagia, and I’m a back sleeper so it’s fairly comfortable. But I’m probably going to have aerophagia away from home anyway, so it’s worth trying a flat pillow. |
