Wide variation in AHIs during the night?
My new Airsense 11 CPAP machine gives me AHI information on its screen and without having to wait.
Last night, I slept for 6 hours and my AHI number was 1.8 when I got up to go to the bathroom.
I went back to bed, slept for another 3 hours, at which point my AHI was 4.5?!?
That would imply that over the last 3 hours of my night, my AHI was around 10.
Is such a wide variation in AHI numbers over the course of a single night "normal" and does it imply that my set pressure of 11 is too high in some cases and too low in others?
I'm thinking of switching to the Autoset feature, which might help in that regard.
I think (?) I sleep on my back more during the early morning hours.
RE: Wide variation in AHIs during the night?
With the information provided all that can be provided is guesses and speculation.
OSCAR graphs show the type of event and often the cause.
RE: Wide variation in AHIs during the night?
This is what I get when I sleep on my back (see attached 2 photos.)
It's a cluster of apneas (positional).
The only way i stopped it was with 3 tennis balls attached to a chest belt with velcro fasterner.
AHI photo including last session of night with cluster 10.96.
Session before AHI 0.34 !!
All thanks to this wonderful Oscar software. Totally amazing !!!!

Thanks for the quick reply.
I wasn't using OSCAR because I thought it didn't run on Linux machines but, as it turns out, I was wrong. I will start using it, as you suggest, and see what it reveals.
By the way, where exactly in Occitanie do you live? I've lived in the Youngstown area (Ohio) for decades, but I grew up in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes). I guess I'm an expat too, but the reverse of what you went through.
