The other thing is probably getting into a comfy position with the mask. My pillow doesn’t move the nasal pillows like it would the FFM but I think it’s still happening slightly maybe. I try sleeping on the edge of my pillow. I got a hose insulator this week and that’s made a huge difference. No more noise. Also my heated tube arrived this morning. My bedroom temp is very cool so I know that’s not an issue.

RE: Trying to learn what OSCAR data means and I need help understanding my flow limits
Those are all great things to consider! Thank you. I didn’t have this problem before my ASV. I had the airfit F 20 first b/c I was told I had to use a FFM. It worked great at first. Then I had to take a break from my mask b/c I had laser for my rosacea. I never went back to sleeping with it comfortably after a few hours and eventually quit using my ASV. Now here I am a year later back to trying to use it. I realized the silicone on the FFM would just drive me crazy after I’d wake from sleeping a few hours. I would get itchy and just keep fiddling with it until I got mad and took it off. So now I’m trying the pillows which has been a week and a half now. I’ve been back to using my ASV for 2 months now but not sleeping well after around 4 hours. I’m experiencing aerophagia with the pillows and I didn’t have that with the mask. So that’s what is waking me up in the wee hours. It doesn’t happen my first 4 hours or so of sleep. So it’s a cycle of I think hitting REM and maybe my mouth opens or something and then I wake and it starts all over again. Also I keep messing with the position of the pillows b/c it feels like they shift and my flow isn’t as open to my nose. It could just be in my head. I tried the mouth taping but I can’t tolerate it. I think it’s too much change at once.

The p10 didn’t work for me. I had my first try with the N30 last night which felt much better. I’m still not going back to sleep once I wake up. I don’t understand why the pressure increase is bothering me so much more with the cushion/pillow. It’s hard to breathe/exhale against it with the cushion and I didn’t struggle like this with the FFM. I can’t blow into it like I could with the FFM to get it to back off. Only thing I can do is turn off the machine and turn it back on which doesn’t feel like a long term solution. It’s odd that my pressure is lower on OSCAR with the pillows compared to my FFM. Also has looked more steady at times. I’m still struggling with aerophagia since trying pillows but it is better.

I am struggling so hard. I haven't had a solid night's sleep in over a week. I was in bed almost ten hours last night and feel like a train wreck. I switched to N30 and it's much better for me. The problem is my ASV feels like it's taking my body for a test drive all night. I start out sleeping great and then it's all over once I wake up. As soon as I drift or even before I drift my pressure shoots up and I cannot breathe against it or exhale against it for long. If I try to blow against it through my nose to make it stop like I would with the FFM, I feel like I am going to hyperventilate or something. Also blowing through my nose to make the pressure back off doesn't seem work through my nose. So I stayed in this cycle of almost asleep and lots of pressure. It's been happening to some degree since I tried pillows. The aerophagia is at least somewhat better.
I attached report from last night. I can zoom in if needed. |
