Waking from Deep Sleep (w/ OSCAR data)
Hi all!
I have been lurking here since March and have found this community to be so incredibly helpful.
I've used my AirSense 10 since this August in fits and starts, and over the last two weeks I'm finally seeing some real progress. I've switched masks a few times and have landed on the F&P Evora full face mask, which I like a lot. (I started with a nasal pillow, then moved to full face masks due to major mouth breathing, which helped a lot.)
While things have improved significantly, I'm now experiencing an issue where I suddenly wake from what feels like very deep sleep. This happens a couple of times per night and it takes me a while to resume sleep. This happened last night at 1:30am, which seems to correlate in OSCAR to an increase in pressure from 7.7 to 8.7 at the same time.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

RE: Waking from Deep Sleep (w/ OSCAR data)
Considering actual deep sleep typically happens in the very beginning of your night it's unlikely to be a deep sleep stage. The more likely scenario is you are waking up in this case during your second REM stage (typically REM is 1hr-90mins apart and you experience 3-5 REM segments). REM is also where sleep disordered breathing is typically the worst. That being said, you'd likely want to increase your minimum pressure by 1cm H20 and see if the issue persists. It's likely you're not using enough pressure if you're waking up in REM.
If you'd like more info, please zoom in to the segment right before you woke up close enough so we can see individual breaths and we can guess at what's going on. You have room to increase EPR too if you wanted to more effectively handle hypopneas.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Please see the zoomed-in view attached. Hopefully this is the right level of zoom.

If you take a look from left to right you can already see flattened tops of breaths plus some presence of flow limitations. It looks like you also had a position change around 1:32:15 AM but it got worse from there (you likely shifted to your back). That would explain why you woke up from REM. I'd trial your minimum pressure at 8 for a couple of days to see if that helps and maybe even move up to 9 but make sure it's gradual. Is there a reason why you have EPR set so low as well?
Have you had a sleep study / titration done? If so what pressure did they recommend?

I think you should also turn off ramp. You don't need it now. You don't get any real therapy during ramp, and any time you get out of bed, ramp starts again when you return, robbing you of needed therapy.

Thank you both. I will raise the min. pressure to 8 and will work toward 9. I'll also raise EPR and turn off ramp.
I had a sleep test through Home Sleep Test Provider #3. They recommended a pressure range of 4 - 20 cm H2O.
Thanks again!
