I wonder if Inspire is concerned about this, and that is why at times I see more of their commercial on TV than usual, and possibly people are having surgeries that may not be necessary. CPAP equipment manufacturers, and providers also, must be concerned about this.

Will we be able to do away with the CPAP mask ?
I really do hope that https://apnimed.com/ completes their work soon. My doctor says that they will have a medicine out sometime this year that basically does with medicine what that Inspire implant does (no more CPAP machines and masks).

I don't really believe these will replace all CPAP machines. I don't think it'll even replace 25% CPAP. This is to assume one remedy fits all. And just within CPAP therapy there's the several levels of machine from CPAP, APAP, BPAP, ST, ST-A, ASV, then full ventilators. Each machine represents a different level and type of therapy requirement.

Every product has a pretty paint job. Wait for the clinical study results and peer reviews before getting too excited.

RE: Will we be able to do away with the CPAP mask ?
This is the 2nd time I have seen this. I am wondering how a medication can be produced that only targets the muscles of the upper airway and not every other voluntary muscle in the body?
It seems like it would pose problems for people with RLS and neurological and neuromuscular problems. From glancing over the literature, it said some people reported their sleep quality as sub par also. It did appear to lower AHI, but how would that feel at night if your upper airway muscles had increased tone and were contracting while you were trying to get sleep? Other muscles in the body contracting also? I like to look at new sleep apnea treatments, but go over them with a fine tooth comb as well.
