bed bugs in my cpap

bed bugs in my cpap
I took apart my dreamstation 2. right into the motor part, and I found a bunch of dead bedbugs in there. I have had bedbugs in the past but managed to eradicate them. I made co2 traps but didn't catch any, yet my dreamstation has at least a dozen dead ones in it, lol. I assume the cpap gets a lot of co2 in it and this attracts the bedbugs?

Holy smokes that's freaky-do you think they made there way through the mask system while you weren't using it?

No. My guess is it happened while I was using it and they were attracted to the co2 that must have been in the cpap, there must be some entryway on the machine. They were all dead in there so I assume the co2 killed them?

There should be almost no co2 in the machine, or at least not any more than ambient air. not a bedbug specialist but they probably ran out of food?

your exhaled co2 exits at the mask and doesn't reach the machine. the only co2 entering is through the air intake. if the machine filled up with co2 that would be very bad for you.

and that's pretty nasty SadSad so they got inside the motor? did you replace it? never saw a dreamstation but it it seems unlikely they left holes for bugs to get inside the motor, they probably went up the mask since the air intake is filtered.

Not the motor but below it. Underneath the casing where the motor is and the sound abatement foam.. The bottom shell connected to the heating part that the water base sits on, but not on the heater side, but on the side of the motor and circuit board. Not sure if that makes it any clearer?

there were also weird little dirt specks everywhere, which now I'm thinking might have been bedbug poop?

Yikes, this sounds like an infestation. Time for a good dusting of Diatomaceous Earth.

away from the cpap machine preferably.

@OP you may want to have the machine professionally disinfected.. or at least clean everything very carefully yourself.

Yikes! I must confess, that is something I had not even thought to worry about.

But now . . . .

I hope you get it sorted out.
