burning painful tongue

burning painful tongue
My tongue feels like it is burning after eating and sometimes through out the day for no apparent reason. It gets very uncomfortable and makes eating a chore. I have done web searches and have come up with a fissured tongue or burning tongue syndrome. I do not believe that cpap has caused it but it may be aggravating it because of a dryer mouth. Does anyone else have or know about this?

Thanks in advance, Car54

Maybe try a moisturizing mouthwash a couple times a day.

RE: burning painful tongue
I use Biotene to moisturize my tongue. This has been going on for over 2 months. I saw my doctor for other reasons and she did not have many suggestions. I will talk to my dentist next appointment and I may be seeing a ENT for dizziness. I will also ask him.

An ENT would be the one most likely to be able to help you. Tongue disorders fall under their specialty.

First, you really need a healthcare provider to check things out.

Second, are you eating a balanced diet? Sometimes, nutritional deficiencies may result in the symptoms you are experiencing.

RE: burning painful tongue
Some of the nerves which serve the tongue pass through your ear. I had a stapedectomy a few years ago and lost the sense of taste in one half of my tongue - it came back after three months.

Your mention of dizziness could be a hint that there is a problem affecting the nerves through your ear.

I have been putting off going to the EMT. I have been extremely busy. My dizziness is a bit better but with what you say about the ear affecting the tongue makes me more motivated to make an appointment. Wow, I must be unique. I thought that maybe someone else on this forum had a similar problem.

Thanks for the input, I will post if I learn anything to pass on the knowledge.
