gettingbetter - Therapy Thread
RE: gettingbetter - Therapy Thread
There are many threads here about "Battery Backup". If you can avoid it, never use an UPS system. You will lose valuable energy having to convert its 12 or 24 VDC internal batteries to 120 VAC then back down to 24 VDC. For short term use, several members rely on the Jackery brand of battery backup. When on battery power, replacing your current AC power supply with a 12/24 VDC one greatly increases efficiency of the battery.

You should also review this Resmed battery use document for help in determining the proper battery size for your needs: https://document.resmed.com/documents/ar...lo_eng.pdf

For me, mobility, size and weight were not a consideration. I was looking for a home based long term (just in case) system. I have been using this system on a constant basis for 2 years. If the power ever fails while I'm asleep, I never know it.

Here is my setup:
KDS 12/24 Power Supply for the A10 Series - $40
Group 27 Marine Deep Cycle Battery 175 CCA - $60
Battery core charge (one time)- $15
Plastic Battery case enclosure - $15
Battery Tender - Full Time Charger - 750 mA - $30

Total cost: $160

Try a search for "battery backup" (include the quotes).

Good luck!

@CrimsonNape:

Thanks a lot!  This helps a bunch!  My first purchase will be for home use only, so I'd rather have a larger capacity just in case it's needed.

Gideon:

You said TV of 340-553 was normal for my size.  So should 340 be the MED value or the 95% value?  Thanks!

RE: gettingbetter - Therapy Thread
Hi everyone!

Last night I bumped the Aircurve pressure (s-mode) to IPAP 8.4, EPAP 5, PS 3.4.   PLEASE NOTE:  my Oscar chart incorrectly says 7.4/5 because I lowered the IPAP the last hour, BUT I was actually at 8.4/5 for all charts included.

Things I noticed:
-moderate belching during the night (I assume aerophagia?), possibly causing arousal
-no OAs or hypopneas, first time ever
-more centrals
-flowrate curve still looks like it has flow limitations?
-unable to go back to sleep after 4:00 a.m.
-feel wiped out today

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated!

My "trigger" is set to the default setting.

Med value. Keep in mind that normals are guidelines. There are those that are outside of those values and they are "normal". Assuming your O2 Sats are normal, not below 88% for any length of time I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm still on the journey of fine tuning things.  Last night I switched to a different mask (Quattro Air for Her) and noticed an increased leak rate (compared to when I use the Airtouch F20).

1.  Is this amount of leak rate okay?  Are we always striving for leak rate as close to zero as possible?

I realized when sleeping on my side with the Airtouch F20, I was covering up some of the vent diffuser with my pillow.  I figure that's probably not a good thing.

2. Are there concerns with this for rebreathing in this situation?

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated!
