RE: Take me to school on periodic breathing
I didn't think I'd get a master level course - this is fantastic stuff here.  I have an appointment scheduled in the near future, so I'll do another round of EPR trial.  I'm going to put in a call about Acetazolamide.  That's fantastic, and at least worth a conversation.

Does ResMed EPR function below the min pressure
Does anyone know how ResMed AirSense machines work with EPR when the minimum and maximum pressure are set to the same number?  I did one night of having min and max both set to 10 cmH2O, so essentially acting like a CPAP device instead of an APAP.  OSCAR's pressure chart is showing that EPAP value is correct, but it's not drawing the green EPAP line.  I can't tell if that means OSCAR just isn't showing the charted value, or if the AirSense isn't reducing pressure.  I know I could test it by simply breathing through the mask, however I realize that's not the most accurate way to check what's happening.

In short, does ResMed EPR work when min = max?

Yes, if you have EPR set, it should work. What does the EPAP say on the left sidebar under statistics?

It shows 7 in the statistics section (which is what I would expect with pressure fixed at 10).

I can't explain why we can't see the green line on the graph, but it does state Epap 7 on the top left of the graph and in the statistics. You should be exhaling at 7cm.

RE: Does ResMed EPR function below the min pressure
Your fixed pressure at 10 may be too low. In your chart it is at the very top of the pressure segment. You might want to raise your pressure to 12 or so to see how it goes.

Try changing the scaling for your pressure graph, it is currently 7 to 10

Right click on the (vertical) word "Pressure" and in the context menu select "Y-axis", then "Override" and change the values to 4 minimum and 12 maximum.
Also in that context menu select "Plots" and check that both boxes are checked (Pressure and EPAP).

That was the ticket!

Thanks!

Glad you got that fixed. I have tried min=max with EPR=3 and it worked fine.

EPR will drop the current inhale pressure during exhalation by the amount of the EPR but never lower than the machine min of 4.
