I don't soak my hose. Warm water and mild soap are swished for a few minutes, then rinsed with tap water. The hose is hung in the bathroom for one week to dry. I've done this for many years and am still alive.

RE: cleaning CPAP tube
I use two hoses. Wash one hose one week, and hang it in the bathroom to dry out for the week. It replaces the hose I washed last week which is now dry and ready to attach to my machine.

RE: cleaning CPAP tube
Someone once suggested using the Mask Fit feature on your CPAP machine to speed the drying of the tube. Just connect your hose (and make sure your humidifer chamber is installed), turn on Mask Fit and leave it on for a while.
It works pretty well for me, although I have found that you have to turn off SmartStop for the air to keep blowing. Typically, I let the hang the hose first to get rid of all the big drops and then use Mask Fit to chase out the rest.

RE: cleaning CPAP tube
Thank you so much! Do I need to raise the temperature in the tube to make it dry quicker doing this way you recommended?
Thanks Tom. Does your hose last a long time doing it this way?

RE: cleaning CPAP tube
Im new to therapy, only a few weeks but I soak it for like 10 minutes, rinse it out well than hang it from the shower or whatever. If its wet, I just run it for 5-10 minutes with the mask fit setting and usually takes care of a residual droplets.

Concerned about large leaks
I have hybrid full face mask and I have just had two nights of high leaks- 25 and 27 ML. I tried tightening headgear but I found magnet came unattached on one side of head. I am still sort of new at this and was wondering if there is a way to insure magnet stays attached to headgear. I may be rolling over in sleep but magnet has come unattached 2 out of the last 4 nights. any suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: Concerned about large leaks
This might take a bit of clever to figure out. Could you in the meantime, post some OSCAR charts of selected nights? Sometimes the answer is to be found there. The instrux are somewhere in the pinned threads. The app is in the menu.
Sometimes the answer is how you put the mask on. Paradoxically, it shouldn't be super tight, since it sits on your face kinda like an air cushion. LankyLefty is usually my go-to on YT for video how-to on this kind of thing, but IIRC there's info in the Wiki as well. Sometimes the answer is a combination of both mask fit and OSCAR data, e.g. the pressure could be bothering you, and in your sleep you're flicking the mask magnet off or aggressively tossing and turning. Hope that helps.

RE: Concerned about large leaks
Thank you so much Half Asleep. I am going for a compliance visit with Pulmonologist on April 1. I am going to mention to him about the magnet issue and the pressure settings. I am going to send you the OSCAR data from last night and see if you draw any conclusions from it. Thanks again.

RE: Concerned about large leaks
Make sure you are not putting your mask on too tight. You could review the Mask Primer.
Mask Primer Besure to read all the way to "How to achieve the perfect mask fit - GUARANTEED! by Jeffy1958" He really puts all of the information you learned previous to that point, together into practical real world steps with wisdom of experience..

RE: Concerned about large leaks
Sounds like it's time to shop masks. I've had better results with Fisher and Paykel Simplus and Vitera than the ResMed F20.
With CPAP masks, remember tight ain't right. It actually makes it worse in most cases due to squashing the cushion.

RE: Concerned about large leaks
Your leaks are not high enough to interfere with your therapy much at all. At 24 you are just hitting the bottom of where it can interfere. I would not worry about the leaks right now. Get comfortable with a mask, post your Oscar report, and folks can advise you from there.
