RE: [split] Rose3130 Doctor Cancelled BPAP
Sleeprider:
Thank you for your suggestions. Sorry for the late response.
I've thought of asking my primary doctor about giving me a Rx for it, and I don't mind paying for the supplies myself. I have not seen my primary in over a year, but have had phone visits with him. I was diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver disease in August, and then about a month ago I was diagnosed with pancreatic insufficiency. So I've been dealing with that.
I do have copies of my sleep studies, but not the Rx for my original bipap. Apria took it when I started therapy.
I still haven't gone to another pulmonary doc, as it's been hard with the Covid restrictions. I'll have to see if I can get an appointment and actually go in for an office visit. I do not want to do the phone visit!
If I post copies of my sleep studies, how and where should I post it here? Do I post it like I started this conversation?
Thank you for all your help!

You can buy most masks on Amazon I have also bought a couple on eBay. Just search the maker and model. If you don’t know what you want check #1 on the suppliers list at the top of the site. You can look at all of them there and then you can do the search.

Guy,
Thank you for the suggestions. Sorry for the delay in responding. I've had a few other health issues going on.
I did not know a Nurse Practitioner could possibly write the Rx. I know a NP who use to be my boss many years back in a cath lab. I'll contact her.
I also told Sleep Rider and others who have commented, I'm going to see if I can find a pulmonary doc and get an office visit. But I may try some of the suggestions first. All my doctors are doing phone visits with these restrictions, so I may not be able to get into a pulmonary doc anytime soon.

If you're going to post any sleep study data, I'd suggest posting here within this thread to maintain historical info. Just redact any personal you'd rather not have displaying.

You should be able to get a copy of the bi-level prescription from either Apria or the originator. It is entirely within your rights to ask for it. I encourage you to do so. If there is a "next" time, do not give away the original, but let them make a copy for their records.
I had to ask my DME for a copy of my prescription since my doctor seemed to have lost(!) mine, due to both a change in ownership of the practice and a subsequent change in records retention policy. The DME was surprisingly very responsive.

The online sellers don't need a current prescription to serve your account. Any documentation that shows you have or had a prescription is usually sufficient to buy equipment. I have an old handwritten Rx from 2008 on file at
Supplier #1 and have never had to update.
