Bongo EPAP-Does it work

Bongo EPAP-Does it work
I am a new old kid to this sleep apnea stuff. I have been diagnosed as having mild-low moderate OSA. Its been suggested I try something called Bong EPAP before going to an APAP machine. Valve like gizmos that you insert in your nostrils. Lower in cost, less intrusive, etc. Everything I read indicates it works well for someone who has mild to moderate apnea. I figured there would be people here that have had first hand experience with it and can share the pros and cons. I am hoping its worth a try as going the APAP route is going to be problematic for me getting it covered by Medicare. Long sotry I wont bother telling now. thanks

Here is something similar

But not for me. I cant see this working because of my sinus restrictions and I don't care to sleep with something in my nose.

There are all types of strange intrusive treatments like electric shock in your throat and wire tubes that you push down your nasal passage.

I will stick with plain old unintrusive simple  cpap treatment and you know what your results are on a daily basis. Plus the treatment pressures can be tailored fit for you.

RE: Bongo EPAP-Does it work
Hi, Pokey,

I tried BongoRx for a few months several years ago.  I think it could work, but it didn't for me.  It blocks some of your exhaled air in order to generate some pressure to keep you airway open.  I had trouble exhaling, leading to a suffocating feeling.  But then I also have trouble in a similar way while using CPAP.  The other drawback was that nasal discharge into the device leads to annoying sound (also a problem I have with CPAP).  These factors may not trouble you.  You have to decide.

Thanks Bill for the feedback. I guess this is like anything, one just has to try it. It seems to be like anything else , works for some, not for others. CPAP as I understand is the same. Some people just cannot tolerate it. IT seems like its worth a try given the cost and the much less intrusiveness of it.
